Keane has been in superb form for Spurs this season, scoring 21 goals in all competitions as his partnership with Dimitar Berbatov has gone from strength to strength, so much so that Jermain Defoe was forced to leave for Portsmouth due to a lack of first-team opportunities.

Darren Bent has also struggled to force his way into the team following his summer switch from Charlton, but Keane has backed the 24-year-old to come good.

“People have to understand that if you are not playing every week, it's very difficult," Keane said.

"I know from personal experience it's not easy to come in and just do something out of the ordinary. But Darren will be a great player for this club; there is no question about that.

"In football you just need that bit of luck or for someone to get injured to get a chance, and Darren hasn't had that opportunity yet.”

Keane will already be known as a legend, it's nice to be seeing a loyal couple of players at Spurs. Berbatov, King, Woodgate next please.
