Boateng may leave in the summer

George Boateng has admitted that he could leave Middlesbrough.
The Dutch international has lost the Boro captaincy this year and has been in and out of the side under Gareth Southgate.
Now reports have suggested he could be set to leave the club in the summer - although he has another year left on his current contract.
"There is a possibility, yes. I would be lying if I said no," said Boateng, who joined the club in 2002 from Aston Villa.
"But as long as I am here I will always give my best and perform well because I am not so fickle.
"When it comes to what the club has done for me and vice-versa, the things the fans said about me, the way they appreciated what I did, I haven't forgotten that.

He has been very good for us over the past few seasons. but we look like we have a replacemment coming through in mohammad Shawky. he looks ot have all the same attributes as boateng except he can actually shoot and can pass alot better.

dont know cant remember. hes only played a few games for us this season. and in each game hes done very well.

I seem to recall the name and seem to remember that he had a pretty decent game.

i wouldnt say hes past it.still does the job for us and would be good for keeping on the bench.id have him in front of rochemback, Cattermole and Arca

ye but do you really want 30k a week just to sit on the bench. we need 1 or 2 midfielders in the summer

well any midfielder we bring in will probaly be the same wage. mendieta will be off the wage bill, so that about 40000 off it.

id expect a couple of other midfielders to leave in the summer like rochemback so keeping hold of boateng might be a good idea

A little update on this. Looks like Celtic and Rangers may be interest in Boateng. However, the player is denying rumours of any talks with either club

i hope he chooses one of those ahead of the mackems. would hate to see him play for them

There is rumours going around that he's going to join up with Mclearan in the Dutch leauges.

Goerge Boateng looks like leaving and like you say Gareth Southgate is going to have to do some serious work on the midfield in the summer.

I don’t know the ins and outs of it like you do but I presume that the midfield is the area that has to be improved.

But how many players do you need? Is there lack of quality in the midfield at Middlesbrough or is Southgate just looking to strengthen his squad?

Obviously I know about Downing but is he the only decent midfielder you’ve got?

If I had my way, I'd be signing two midfielders in the summer coz Arca aint reliable.

after losing rochemback and boateng if he leaves, then we are going to need a few players in the midfield. we at least need 1 centre mid and 1 right winger. we still have arca and Oneil who can both play in the centre. id like to see 3 midfield signings. with two centre mids coming in.
