Too bad for those clubs, both players are an integral part of their teams.
But to be honest, Barton's send off was correct. Had he gone in toe first instead of cleats up, it would have been a yellow. As for Konchesky although he got the ball, he was the last man. The referee had no other choice, specially given it was a clear scoring opportunity. Anyway that's my opinion.

Personally i think Barton out the side for a few games wont do any harm. Especially as it means Ireland will have to be in the side. Theres no choice about it and he can really prove that hes got the capabilities to be in the squad. Also Dabo looked pretty useful in the five man midfield so for the West Ham game i expect him and Ireland will make up the centre and Pearce will reverse to 4 4 2.
