I know it was only preseason, but I saw Barcelona on their U.S. tour against Chivas de Guadalajara and the New York Red Bulls. They looked incredibly good, even without Messi. Eto'o looks like he's back in top form and Daniel Alves is a huge addition. I look for Barca to take the crown back this year.

and i know chivas are a big, successful club, but the mexican league doesnt have shit on the top (or even mid level) european leagues...wont even go into the mls.

Well, obviously these weren't equal to the top clubs in Spain, but Barcelona still looked better against similar competition than anyone else I've seen for awhile. But if that's not enough, I also saw bits and pieces of their 6-0 demolition of Hibernian and their convincing 3-1 win over Fiorentina that were replayed on FSC. They certainly looked better against those clubs than Real Madrid looked against Eintracht Frankfurt last week's friendly that FSC broadcast live. And Madrid has already screwed around and lost to Valencia in the first leg of the Supercopa. Given all those things, Barcelona looks to me like a club with a good shot at winning some things this year.

i think they have a much better shot with hleb playing the creative role vs. ronaldinho, least hleb wants to be there....just watched a replay of the olympic semis and sadly its plain to see that ronaldinho has lost that extra step that makes him magic. granted that could be down to fitness and he may be a world beater again at milan. still think madrid will finish 1st with barca nipping at their heels til the end.

I would like to think Barca will win the title but I'm not sure about the abilities of Guardiola to lead the first team. Plus I also think Valdes is a liability.

am actually from liverpool but surpport barcelona. been a barca fan since i was seven, went the semi-finals last season at old trafford man u played well, defensive but clinical. am happy with the buys this season josep has strenthened the mid field. think man u will piss then leauge once again, especially the signature of berbatov.

i totally agree with u! valdes is the weakest link of the team without a doubt. he has improved over the seasons but i think he has reached his best. sorry not good enough for barca! i have faith in josep and needs time as any other manger does. his heart and sole is 100% in barca.

It's going to be super-close this season. Barca and Real are looking just as good as ever, but Valencia and Sevilla will both run them close.

My money goes on Real.
