Just read about this, USL first division (sort of like the league below MLS...) side Vancouver Whitecaps are planning to build a new 30,000 stadium near the waterfront. The Whitecaps are trying to get into MLS, so building a new stadium would really help their cause. Here's a couple fairly crappy artist's renderings...

The Whitecaps currently play at Swangard Stadium which holds 5,000 people, and is essentially a glorified high school (American) football field... Another real football stadium would also increase Canada's odds of hosting a major FIFA event this century.:icon_mrgr:

The Montreal Impact also of USL-1 have nearly completed a new 14,000 (to be expanded to 25,000 if the Impact get into MLS) seat soccer stadium next door to Olympic Stadium in downtown Montreal, and owner George Gillett (also owner of the Montreal Canadiens and Liverpool FC) is making a big push to move the Impact up to MLS.

And just sort of random... You'd think a team based in Montreal would have a French name.
