At the Leeds United Player of the Year Awards, Jermaine Beckford has picked up three awards. The striker won the Players' Player of the Year, the Fans' Player of the Year and the Fans' Goal of the Year Awards. This season Beckford, 24, became the first Leeds player to score 20 league goals in a single campaign since Mark Viduka in 2002/03. Almost 4,000 Leeds United supporters voted for the awards through the club's website.
I remember Tottenham showing an interest in him a few years back. I believe he was a youth player at Chelsea. Anyway he went into the Isthmian League and played for Wealdstone where he became a prolific goal scorer and attracted attention from several top clubs. It will be interesting to see how much longer Leeds Utd can hold on to this young man.
