He's a great player & I hope it's not true but it wouldn't guarrentee them winning anything!
Look at Barca this season!

True, but you know what I'm saying. He would be a terriffic signing to an already strong squad.

Not gona happen, he's coming to Boro....
Nah erm... I doubt he would leave Barca to come to England. Although, if the Barca manager gets sacked, chelsea win the champions leauge then you never know.
It would be good to see him come to the prem because he's very exciting to watch.
What the hell's Roman doing signing players though, shouldn't that be the managers job!!!!

You do get the impression he's one to stick his nose in though, don't you? It seems to me he just likes to collect top players. He treats the game like a human version of pannini stickers.

Yeah I agree. It dosen't always work out either, just look at Ballack and Shevchenko.

yeah true, Shevchenko cost 30m and we never hear of him. Messi is a much more talented player but that's not to say the same wont happen. He's only young and the physical side of the game may be hard for him to adapt to, aswell as the pace (bit silly really considering his strength and pace but it happens). And then that's £80m down the drain
Surely even Chelsea aren't going to do that deal?

I think Roman does what he likes. If he sees a player that he likes, he goes for it. One of the perks of owning a club I guess.
I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. There are always these stories about big money transfers, but few of them ever pan out. Great player though, that's for sure.

just think abour how exciting the premiership is becoming with the signings of proper world class player, torres, tevez, drogba all make it exciting and if messi joins chelsea how skillful will the play be then.
i think roman has some right to have a say in who his money buy, i know if i was giving out that amount of money, i would want to have some say not just be a bank and i'm sure you would all be the same

Over the last five years Chelsea would have made large profits, I should imagine. Abramovich wouldn't spalsh out cash if he didn't think he was going to get a return on his money. Messi could be the player to take Chelsea back to the top. With goals scored and assists he could easily add 15-20 goals in a season, enough to have won them the Premiership this season.
