Surely he's been on the brandy! Our Kev sometimes doesn't know what he's talking about. Did it go something like this?........
"I'd would love it, I would really love it, but..... I just think it's impossible!

Passionate Bloke, speaks it how it is. He's right. He's not trying to fool anyone with false hopes. Any mid table PL team need to spend at least 50M and that'll only secure PL status the following year. 50M will only get two, maybe three decent players. That said I do believe Newcastle have the capacity to "tap" into the revenue generated from a world wide fan base. Not many clubs in the PL can say that.
(listen to me!:embaressed I'm A 'Boro Fan and detest The Barcodes(Doesn't sound like that does it!!!)

What did he actually say in the full article?

I agree though, without big investment no club will be able to challenge the top four for a long time.

I would say that several clubs can “tap” into an income source and generate money. Most Premiership clubs have multi-millionaire chairmen and owners. Some of them are shrewd investors. If they think that by investing some of their money into new players will improve profits, then that’s what they’ll do.
Here are some examples of some wealthy chairmen:

Randy Learner, chairman of Aston Villa is an American entrepreneur and sports team owner. He owns the American football team, the Cleveland Browns. His personal fortune is estimated at over $1.6 billion.

Thaksin Shinawatra is the multi-millionaire chairman of Man City who owns and invests in many businesses around the world.

John Madejski, the Reading chairman, is in the top 200 wealthiest people in the U.K. He is an English businessman, with a raft of commercial interests, spanning property, broadcast media, hotels, restaurants, publishing and football.

Daniel Levy is the chairman of Tottenham. He is managing director of ENIC Group, a sports, entertainment and media group. ENIC bought a controlling stake in Spurs and their owner is a man called Joe Lewis who is a multi-billionaire and effectively owns the club. Both he and Daniel Levy are Tottenham supporters.

Björgólfur Guðmundsson is the chairman and owner of West Ham. Björgólfur is a billionaire business man and is currently ranked by Forbes Magazine (in 2008) as the 1014th-richest person in the world. He is a majority owner and chairman of the Icelandic bank Landsbanki, the second largest company in Iceland.

David Whelan is multi-millionaire chairman of Wigan Athletic. He was founder of JJB Sports which he recently sold for £190m. He owns the JJB Stadium where Wigan Athletic play.

All these men have a business interest in the clubs they’re with and will dig deep if they feel the time and opportunity is right.
One of the biggest obstacles they face is luring a decent player to the club in the first place. High wage demands is another.
That’s why the big clubs attract the big players. It doesn’t necessarily mean that other clubs don’t have the resources because a lot of them they do.

This is yet another reason why only the champions of England should go into the Champions League. Every year the same top 4 clubs keep getting all the money, and while that is still the case the rest of the clubs have got no chance.

I really think Newcastle should be aiming to qualify for the UEFA Cup next season. If we can do that next season we can build from there hopefully.:thup

I am realistic enough to know that we probably wont even win the Carling cup next season:ninja

We will just have to settle with the Premier League, The Champions League & The FA Cup next season as the squad is not strong enough to win the 4 for a couple of years!
