Stephen Carr was an old favourite at Tottenham and has done well at Newcastle but the right-back has been released by the Magpies after being priced out of a move for Porto full-back Jose Boswinga. I see that Martin O'Neill of Aston Villa could be interested. At 31, I think he’ll be a decent buy for a few Premiership clubs.

He was alright, nothing special really. I thought he lacked pace at times so I don't think he'll be missed too much.

You could be right but he still likes to make those runs, cutting in from the right and hammering the ball from about 30 yards out. He always seemed to be a determined sort of player to me, one you'd want in your side when the chips were down.

Nah, I wouldn't think he'd be a good buy for Villa. His better days are definitely behind him as a player.

He's got another season left in him yet.

He's not good enough for us anymore. I was thinking another season for you.
