EVERTON are considering rekindling their interest in Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell.
Sidwell has become surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge after suffering a miserable campaign following his arrival from Reading on a free transfer last summer.

The 25-year-old has made just 13 starts with his last appearance coming in the FA Cup win over Huddersfield Town in February.

Goodison manager David Moyes, who was keen to bring Sidwell to Everton last year, had contemplated a loan move for the former England under-21 international in January.

Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers and Reading were also interested in taking the midfielder on a temporary deal before the player decided to stay put.

But it is almost certain Sidwell will now seek a move away from Stamford Bridge to kick-start a career that has stalled following an impressive four-year spell at Reading.

The midfielder would cost in the region of £3million, and would have to take a cut in wages should Moyes follow up his interest with a concrete offer.

Everton have again checked on another long-time target, United States international Michael Bradley.

so we've got Fernandes nd Graveson probs both going back and Van De getting thrown out.

but with the looks of sidwell, please Moyes leave the Ginger Drugged up ugly mut alone.

I'd love to see Bradley get a chance at a club like Everton. He's been quite impressive for the NT this past year. Very versatile too. Scores lots of goals for Heerenveen, but rock solid in that defensive role for the NT. :thup

Not sure why you wouldn't want Sidwell. He was a pretty good player for Reading. I suppose you could call his sanity into question for thinking he could earn a spot on the first team at Chelsea, but he's still pretty decent. Just a matter of getting his form back.

Sidwell was a great player. Chelsea have spoilt him, just likt they did Damien Duff. They buy good premiership players to sit on the bench. I was really hoping that we would get Sidwell. :wild

I always thought Sidwell was a pretty decent player, especially for Reading. I haven't seen him play much for Chelsea though. I thought he was linked to Blackburn at some time as a possible replacement for Robbie Savage, but I could be wrong.

Sidwells move to Chelsea was always ludicrous. he was never going to be good enough for them. but hey when moneys offered it aint going to be turned down. the only reason he stood out at reading was because he was better than the rest of them and the rest were crap. good player could do well for any team in the bottom half of the table
