Oxford United lost the opportunity to go top of the Nationwide Conference as they went down 2-1 at Exeter.

Jamie Mackie netted what turned out to be the winner at St James Park with Andy Burgess' (pictured) 89th minute penalty coming too late to save the visitors.

Dagenham now lead the table by a point after a goalless draw at Crawley although the visitors had David Rainford sent off.

Burton missed the opportunity to close the gap as they were also held to a 0-0 draw by Stafford Rangers while Morecambe and York City swapped places after the visitors ran out 3-1 winners thanks to second half goals from Craig Farrell, Clayton Donaldson and Steve Bowey.

Southport now prop up the table after they went down to three second half goals at Northwich Victoria. Tamworth's point against Rushden and Diamonds was enough to take them off the bottom, sub Taiwo Atieno scoring a 73rd minute equaliser.

St Albans were also able to pull away from the foot of the table thanks to a 2-1 win at Woking, Tom David getting the winner late on.

Forest Green Rovers held off a determined fightback by Weymouth to run out 3-2 victors while Halifax and Altrincham battled to a 1-1 draw at the Shay.

Gavin Hurren's 65th minute goal was enough to see off Cambridge United and Stevenage proved too strong for Aldershot as they emerged 3-2 winners.
