And me dad has advised me (as i'm travelling up on my own) not to wear me shirt on the way to the ground.
Wise advice? You're not that bad are you ;)

Also, on my ticket it says 'Lower Bullens Row 3) Will that be the Paddock or that actual Lower Bullens?

Evertonscouser

Will be the actual Lower Bullens I think mate and with row 3 your close enough to the Paddock anyway.

How are you travelling up here mate?

If it's by coach I'd say its fine to wear colours as you get to the match nice and early, and the road the coaches park is footsteps from the away section turnstyles, which always has a large police and steward presence, I walk through the away fans area outside the ground every game and theres never a hostile atmosphere (although I did avoid that area for Liverpool, Kopite and the Milwall games). Plus odds are you will be wearing a coat anyway to cover it untill entry to the ground.

If it's by train I'd advise you not to wear colours. You'll be fine on the way to the ground, but on the way home, after basically the inevitable defeat we will have there will be a few scuffles, especially with the mixture of Alcohol and the darkness, there's often bust up and fights with our own fans on the streets outside after a badperformance, and it only takes 1 drunken idiot to target the away fans escort to the station, so best not to wear colours if your taking the train.

Ah yeh i'm coming up by train, so i best not then. Cheers for the advice. Do we get an escort back to the ground then? OR are we allowed to get a bus. Don't fancy the walk :D

Are you travelling from the station to Goodison on your own mate?

I live near Lime Street, could escort you if you needed it;)

I doubt you lot will get kept behind as I doubt there will be any trouble, but Everton and Chelsea have a large and violent hooligan history, and I'm sure there will be a minority of both sets of supporters (as there always is) who are up for a fight, so it's best to keep with the escort. You'll have no chance getting on a bus, they are few and far between and get packed within seconds of stopping on the main roads full of blues, even today I had to walk halfway to the city centre before as bus came past that wasn't full.

I'll bear it in mind and get back to you on that one ;) Doubt i could understand you so it would have to be simply silence haha

:D

It's easy enough anyway, if you can't be a***d walking get the underground train to Liverpool Central, from there to Kirkdale and follow the crowd to Goodison.

The area looks a bit rough, but it's not bad really.

What about on the way, cos without the bus i aint sure i'll make it to the ground in time. And not like if i get the earlier one i can stop off at the pub isit!
If it's anything like Reading you're have trouble, at the end of the games got very heated and we broke the divide and got into their end (we not including me of course) but that was special circumstances. Shouldn't be to much trouble but there's always the inevitable picking a fight but no actually having it lark :D

What time are you getting to Lime Street?

You can get a cab for about £8, they might charge you a bit more with being flashy cockneys and all.

I'll look into it sounds too much effort though tbh i probably just follow the rest of the Chelsea lot!

I aint no cockney! Thats for the West Haaaaaam fans of this world, although you northerners think we're all cockneys!
I think it was about half 12 i was getting there, can't remember though, i will check it all over tomorrow!

It's a 1.45 kick-off isn't it?

To be honest with not knowing the area you might be best going for a cab, maybe see if there's any other Chelsea fans interested in sharing one?

It's a long walk to Goodison, although fairly straightforward.

Only problem with getting a cab is that then you're in L4 in the dark at the end of the match without knowing the way back.

Train might be best for you tbh, at least you get a feeling for the area in the light then.

On the way there if your hopping the bus, leave Lime Street from the main entrance, you'll see a bus station, go there and get the 21 bus, get off where all the blues get off. You should see the ground from there, just walk downa row of streets and walk around the stadium to the away section. Would probably save you alot of time though to get a taxi with a few other Chelsea fans going the ground.

Evertonscouser
03-12-2006, 21:30
I can't see you having many problems getting the game, as your train will be full of Chelsea fans so you can bascially follow the crowd to the stadiim, and your bound to get chatting to other blues. If you want I can take you back to Lime street in time for your train, as I have to go the bus station outside lime street for my bus home.

Wouldn't the 19 be easier for someone who doesn't know the area?

Yeah that's it, usually get the 68 there so wouldnt really know,. 19 goes direct doesnt it.

FourOneFourOne
03-12-2006, 21:40
Yeah, the 19 goes right past the Park End.

Goes a bit too close to Rednose territory for my liking though.

I just hop on the train to Moorfields and I'm ready for the evening's beer :D (usually drowning my sorrows at the moment).

I just take it as a general rule not to wear colours. Home or away.

I'm also not 7 years old any more so replica shirts are a no go.

I think i'll just get off at Lime Street and walk it, if it's too long i might try get a cab back. But tbh i can't afford 8 quid the train tickets already clearing me out. Just seen i got to leave at 7:50 in the morning....Didn't expect it to be that early!

I should be able to get some directions off a football ground guide

Ok mate, its a good 45-60 mins walk, but it's just up one road all the way so you will struggle to get lost.

£30.70, bloody rip off these trains, and Kiko i was thinking of not paying after not getting checked for Cardiff but then i saw the fine and thought i best tbh...

And is it really 45-60 minutes! Man this turning into a bit of a problem lol...

EDIT: It's 2.7 miles from the station which works out at just under 30 minutes which SHOULD be ok

kiko
05-12-2006, 19:03
Did you get fined? :D

I got chucked off on the way back from Boro, ended up jibbing the last train.

true blue
05-12-2006, 19:09
Nope but i'd rather not with it being 90 quid, and i don't fancy getting kicked off :D ... Gotta be up for school in the morning ;)

kiko
05-12-2006, 19:11
The lad just chucked me and my mate off. Tried paying with my card but he wouldn't accept it so ended up stuck in Thirsk for a few hours.

If you're tempted, when the guy is coming towards you, set your ringtone off, walk past him and head to the bogs.

Maybe if you run! A fast walk is 4mph.

I'd get the bus if I were you.

Go out of Lime Street through the main entrance facing you (the one with steps outside).

In front of you will be a classical-style building (St George's Hall).

Cross the road to that, and walk to the left side of St George's Hall. You should see a bus station to your left.

Cross to it and get the 19 (every 6 minutes or so, I'll find out the stand if you want).

Ask for Goodison, it goes right past the Park End.

Will cost you £1.60 if you're paying adult fare.

Don't wear one of the t-shirts Kiko's posted or you'll get plenty of people asking if you've met Stanley:D

The one up was just normal (not packed) and we managed to get away with that. The one on the way back was pretty packed but I had no where to hide once jobsworth got on and called the coppers over.

Good thinking :D

How did you get past the ticket inspectors back at Manchester? Back up the ramp towards Platform 13 and come back down the other end?

kiko
05-12-2006, 20:11
There was none there. It was 1 in the morning.

If there had been I think it would have been a sprint jobbie. :D

FourOneFourOne
05-12-2006, 20:16
The b***ards are always there when I come into Piccadilly :(

Obviously I arrive at Platform 13, so I just buy a return to Eccles from the ticket machine. Every little helps.

Alright, cheers for the advice i'll give it a go but if i can't get on the bus i'll have to power walk it!

kiko
05-12-2006, 20:18
Yeah they usually are but I think there was only about 2 trains left to come in so they had all gone to bed.

That's what my mate did anyway, up the ramp.

Shame he got collared on the train by a female copper.

FourOneFourOne
05-12-2006, 20:23

Alright, cheers for the advice i'll give it a go but if i can't get on the bus i'll have to power walk it!

Don't think you'll have any problems getting on, there's about 10 every hour.

Never got the bus on a matchday though, Merseyrail will get me there in comfort and style.

true blue
05-12-2006, 20:27
As long as i'm not in too late, i don't like to rush otherwise it spoils the day a little. As you basically turn up watch the game and go home, like at Sheffield Utd. I like to take in the stadium if it's a new 1 for me and have a look around.

FourOneFourOne
05-12-2006, 20:28
Make the most of it, by the time you're 18 you'll just be spending the hours before a match in some pub :D

If you collect programmes there's a very good fair every week in the church between the Main Stand and Gwladys Street End (albeit mainly EFC-related).

05-12-2006, 20:37
The replay of the game we would have won if we'd been given a cast-iron penalty when we were 1-0 up :(

05-12-2006, 20:41
Can't really remember apart from being pretty lucky to come away with the draw by the end....

You know i don't think we've sold our 1800 allocation for this game, for some unknown reason!

FourOneFourOne
05-12-2006, 20:43
You never brought many before Abramovich took over, to be fair only Spurs have sold out regularly up here out of all the London clubs.

Sounds like Everton will have all of the Upper Bullens then.

true blue
06-12-2006, 18:31
It is weird, cos we managed to take nearly double the amount we're bringin to you to Sheffield for a midday kick off, would of thought this would of appealed no less!

And, yeh you have the whole of the Upper, unfortutnatly (spelling?)

westboy
06-12-2006, 18:35
Sheffield is closer probably, but not much and Liverpool is a nicer place I'd have thought
