Sorry to look back, sorry if this thread has been done before (apologies over)

What was the best footballing point in 2006?

As a Brentford fan it was beating Sunderland in January, we only won a handful of matches since then though.

As a football fan...

Barca v Chelsea at the Nou Camp (group stage match) was best match as a spectacle I saw in '06.

Sitting in a room with passionate, drunk, Australians, desperately wanting to see Croatia win and seeing good old Graham Poll book a player 3 times was probably funniest moment.

Arsenal getting to CL final and putting up a brave fight against Barca, with 10 men was good for the game

For romanian football clubs, year 2006 was the best since 1990. Two teams Steaua Bucharest and Rapid Bucharest were in UEFA quartefinals. Steaua reached a semifinal with Middlesbrough but they lost dramatically.

But on the other hand Romanian national team watched world cup Germany at TV. Since Euro 2000 we lost contact with final tournaments.
Hagi's generation is missed.

So we lost with Boro. But Boro was lucky. Maybe it was the luck they needed when they lost in 1997 both league and FA Cup and they were relegated from the Premier League. I felt sorry for them that time.
But that is only history. The game in on.

To be fair I don't think Bucharest would have won in the final anyway.

Also in your profile it says you support Milan

Not much point in getting to the final if you don't win though

Why not? I'd rather we won them two games the way we did and lost the final than not getting to the final at all

better than nothing but you don't have much to show for your efforts.

Indeed Sevilla was at the moment of the Uefa final a strong team. But remember Steaua left behind teams like Betis Sevilla and in past years also eliminated Valencia, former Uefa Cup Winners.
Anyway Steaua will have to prove in Ferbruary when they will meet Sevilla that they deservded to play last year's final

they didnt deserve to play it. If they deserved to play it, they would have.

Exactly, "footy formulas" don't work. Football isn't a formula it is real life.

Otherwise I could argue the Brentford are the best team in Europe.
