Curbs steps up full-back bid
West Ham have reportedly held talks with Arsenal's Cameroonian right-back Lauren while Blackburn's Lucas Neill has also been linked.

It appears that boss Alan Curbishley is closer to finalising a deal that will see 29-year-old Lauren join the Hammers on a six-month deal which could be extended if he can help the club salvage their Premiership status.

Despite once being a first-choice right-back for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, injury problems have seen him slip behind Emmanuel Eboue and Justin Hoyte in the pecking order and he has now been cleared to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Spanish clubs Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Valencia are also thought to be in the running for Lauren's signature, but the hammers are favourites after holding negotiations this week.

If that deal fails to materialise then Curbishley is also being tipped to launch a raid for Blackburn's Australian international, Neill, who is set to leave Ewood Park in a £2million deal this month.

Liverpool have been favourites to snap up Neill, but Curbishley is thought to be very interested in taking the player to Upton Park.

I think they're both similar types of players in an attacking sense and are both strong in the tackle. I heard Lauren was supposed to be on the bench for the 3-6 game but got injured again. You're better going for Neill, at least he wont keep getting injured :
