What is the worst reason you or someone else has been chucked out of a football ground?

Someone got chucked out at Brentford for 2 packets of crisps. Here is an account of it (from) http://www.griffinpark.org/forums/showthread.php?t=49332

"You Couldn't make it up!........

At about 5 to 3 yesterday a friend of mine entered the ground holding a Tesco bag with 2 bags of crisps inside.

He was running to take his seat when he was asked by a steward to show what was in the bag. Still running he opened the bag said what was in there and showed them " packets of crisps"

The steward then grabbed him. When the bloke with him protested they grabbed him as well. The police became involved and had them up against the wall and searched them after which they were thrown out of the ground!

I found out about this when I saw them after the game in the bar at the ground. I took them to see Pete Gilham to complain. Peter sent for a guy called Mr Hill who introduced himself as the "head of security" or whatever..... he seemed a very unpleasant individual with a constant smirk on his face. He couldn't comment but told us he would study any video evidence if there was any and get back to us with his comments.

These 2 fans (since 1962) have been friends of mine and the one who was initially challenged lives in Banbury and has done for the last 10 years and still attends every home game, travels to some away games is a lifeline member and as I say supported the club since the early 60's.

This just about sums up our dying club, when loyal, mature fans are evicted from the game. I am disgusted by this heavy handed approach and it's the final straw for me. As a result I will not be renewing my season ticket next year and will be cancelling my lifeline membership that I have had since it started.

I hear that Dougie (it's in the bag) White could well surface at the club again. I think they deserve each other!"

Our stewards are absolutely awful, show no respect. It doesn't even matter whether they are loyal fans or not, no-one deserves to be treated like that and hopefully there will be a protest next match. It could actually be quite funny

Seems a huge over reaction by the stewards to me. Seems like they could have been bored and just wanted to do something. I hope your mate gets a reply from the 'Head of Security' guy!

lol. Almost laughable. Its when they tell you to sit down that annoys me though.

Stewards at Forest are know where as strict as these stories!

There have been problems before, I remember once a fan caught the ball and threw it back in a slightly angry manner. Six jobsworth stewards, manhandled him and knocked him out for that reason. If it wasn't for the excellent St. Johns Ambulance the poor bloke would have been serious hurt...

And guess what the Head of Security didn't get fired and is the same bloke responsible for this.

As for Forest stewards I really despise them. They are so 'letter of the law' just things like they kept us to our seating when we brought about 500 fans and there was clearly enough seating for everyone, (and it wasn't they wanted to keep us in a specific are as we were spread out all across the stand behind the goal. Even when we brought 76 fans a few days earlier they still enforced that rule I'm told. Also stuff like not letting people out for a fag once they were in because it's no smoking inside. But worst of all they pick on the defenceless. I young kid, about 12 was kicked out for persistant standing when the whole away section were standing up, and this guy was with his family.

I hate to generalise and I guess somewhere there are some sensible, caring stewards who are professionals but it seems that stewards often cause more problems when they solve and instead appointing asylum seekers maybe clubs should employ true professionals. Oh wait that would cost too much...

EDIT: The club has just said it's investigating the incident and the fans involved have been invited to a home game of their choice courtesy of the club

I haven't been kicked out either - I stay away from the stewards for my own safety as much as anything else.

I pity the stewards at old firm games tho.totally powerless, bedlam rules the day.

that's probably a blessing in disguise. Especially if they support one of the old firm teams and have to manage away fans

You mean you wouldn't want to beat the shit out of Celtic fans?

Or do you have quality stewards north of the border?

The worst stewarding i've experienced was at Mansfield and Rochdale.

At Field Mill the stewards came up every 2secs to tell us to sit down, and in the end, they chucked out a lad for standing up to go to the bogs. And a few years ago at Spotland, I got ejected for holding my dads pint whilst he went to the food bar. Pathetic really..
