Celeb Big Brother in racism probe

The TV watchdog has received 200 complaints from viewers that Bollywood star Shilpa is the victim of racist bullying.

Ofcom has reported the new troubles following the show's plummeting ratings and the walkout of three celebrities.

The Indian beauty was branded a "dog" by disgraced former Miss Great Britain Danielle who blamed Shilpa for Carole's eviction on Friday night.

Both Danielle and Jo have imitated Shilpa's Indian accent, while Jade's evicted mum Jackiey dubbed her "The Indian" and refused to learn how to pronounce her name.

Some fans have been upset by what they believe is racist behaviour and have been voicing their concerns on internet forums.

Housemate Jermaine thinks that Jade's gang - including JO and Danielle - are jealous of her and Ian told him he thought the house was turning into Lord of the Flies.

A Big Brother insider said if producers thought there was abuse, bullying or racism going on, they would take a very serious view. But anti-racism campaigners are demanding BB bosses take action if it is proved Shilpa has been the victim of racially-motivated abuse.

==================================

That is not racism at all. Just because someone doesn't like someone else does not mean its racism. Its down to personal choice, how can calling someone a dog be racist. Honestly, those 200 people who rung up must be part of the PC Bridage.

Yea there are some over-sensitive people who like to complain about the smallest things. Those quotes made me laugh though (my brother told me about them, since I haven't been watching BB).

You may laugh about it, but it really is. We can't do anyting these days without upsetting someone. This is the problem of mixed religions. We just have to get on with it and learn to put up with one another.

Also we must not feel awkward when talking about different religions in fear of being recist.

I find it hard to decide whats worse these days. The "PC brigade" or the ones who always seem to make a big thing of the so-called "PC brigade".

Course its not rasict, you always get the odd people that HAVE to complain about the slightest thing. I remember they complained about an advert because it was offensive, all there was was a cartoon man dancing around half-naked behind cereal :thumbsdownsmileyani If you think it's racist then don't watch it!

This is an absolute joke. It is a disgrace to our country and shows how fucking sad people who watch this shit programme our.

I'm don't have a problem with it being airred, if people have got nothing better to do with their lives and watch a few boring, uneducated people sitting in a house, as long as it isn't affecting me I don't care.

What pisses me off about the racism thing is that people sad enough to think that the people in their are represenatitive of our population. No-one complains when there is bullying etc. in soaps and whether BB is "reality TV" or not, is beside the point. It's not staged, but they deliberately chose low-life, spoilt housemates in order to get an instant impact to make it "exciting" for the sad people who watch it.

As for discussing a reality TV show in Parliament...well it says what our country has come to.

I am not happy...

Yes it is pathetic really!!

We do have to stop being politically correct.

My brother is in Dubai and during christmas he was speaking to some locals and he couldn't believe that the local people celebrate christmas, they may do it for the tourists so they can make money. But he also said, in some parts of the UK christmas decorations and trees are not allowed as they might upset people who don't celebrate christmas.

They just laughed at him as they thought he was joking. They couldn't believe how soft our government and the people who run the councils are.

Having a multi-cultural society does not mean WE have to stop doing the things we have been doing for years. Its tradition, you never hear people complaining about having decorations up in the streets as they are not bothered. The people who are causing all these problems are narrow minded people who think having the decorations up "MIGHT" insult people.

PC gone mad. :(

I also think stuff like Big Brother is a TV show and it should stay that way. It's not real. If people want to talk about it. If people don't agree with what is happening or find it offensive then DON'T WATCH it, you won't miss out on much. I find it hard to believe that the next prime minister of our country does not have better things to talk about than what is going on in the big brother house.

The fact is that if these people are genuine bullys/racists then it doesn't make a difference what channel 4 do, they will still be bullies.

WHY CAN'T PEOPLE GROW UP!!!!!

Anyone who has the time to write to their MP or channel four about an pathetic TV show seriously needs to consider getting a job and not robbing us of our taxes through unemployment benefit.

I can't remember such a disgraceful issue, or one I've come so angry about (it's not worth it I know). It's wrong on just about every single level.

Also if the person being bullied is so offended then they should walk out of the house.

Sadly all of this is publicity for Big Brother and more people will watch it.

You've got to laugh about this Big Brother thing. Talk about much ado about fuck all.

Who'd have thought Jade Goody and a couple of other retards would be able to cause an international diplomatic incident, with that prick Keith Vas bringing it up at PMQs, and thick as pig shit Indians demonstrating and burning effigies in the streets.

The whole thing is pathetic innit.

(can't wait for Littlejohn's take on all this shit)

Whats are effigies? Its all gotten out of hand. Its not even Racism and from what I've heard on the news that Indian is playing on the fact that she is an Indian and making it worse, at the end of the day its more bullying than racism. The stupid 30,000 people who have rang up need to get a life and stop watching shit.

I agree with the last two posts. Fine you have your Big Brother TV for those with nothing better to do, but remember most of the people are stupid and their actions are not sponsored or endorsed by C4. Talk about it in the tabloids fine, but It has to stay out of politics we don't have the time.

Although I think Jade et al are too thick to be racist, why does the show go out of their way to protect someone they are supposed to be condoning. She should have faced the crowd and if someone did harm her or even worse kill her then it's her fault and it won't exactly be a big loss to the world

kiko

Racism is igonorance. You can't be too thick to be racist.

And as somone on another forum said give it a few weeks and we'll have the C4 program "Jade to India".

Racism is now fucking me off.

You cant call a black guy black anymore, its gotta be coloured. If we're white, hes fucking black. What happened to the days of Big Ron, legend!

Ironically, Jade is actually right on some of the things she says. That indian chick is playing on the fact shes indian, if she was say American there would be no racism issue, it would be bullying. Just because shes indian its racism. |

If you think about, the ones accusing of the racism are the more racist, as they believe bullying someone relates to their skin colour and is therefore racist.

Difficult to explain

Both Jade and Shilpa agreed that there was no racism involved in there argument, why can't people get over it eh?

Shilpa is seen in India as a mega star, they see her in a different light than we do, to us shes just another random celebrity Big Brother have pulled in. They made up and that should be the end of it.

These sad people annoy me, no matter how petty an issue is, they can't leave it. Its a TV programe, better yet a game and I think people forget that.

 Since when? Stop overreacting.

And has she played on it or have the people outside the house played on it? I'm sure it's the latter.

Since TB and his political twats, how often do you hear TB call someone black?

Probably the latter, but didnt she said she felt 'racial abuse'

Well I know they both agreed it wasn't.

Why does it matter if TB says somone is black ? :D

Issue out of nothing here.

Yep. If they were laughing at her accent (if she was american) etc there wouldn't be a problem

I heard trailer park trash.

But it has a different meaning generally. More to do with an impoverish background rather than colour of skin.

I think it was slightly racist as much as it pains me to say so.

Taking the pish out of somethign somebody can't help is not "politically correct"

Don't get me wrong though, I'm all against getting the robbing bastards who get all that doe thrown at them as soon as they get off the boats, especialy while there is British poeple on the streets of Britain starving and cold.

Taking the p!ss out of her accent was wrong, she can't help the way she speaks, it's exactly the same if somebody was taking the p!ss out of the way some disabled kid was talking, it would be seen as out of order.
