Barcellona agree to sell saviola to juve

Barcelona have agreed a deal to sell Javier Saviola to Juventus, according to the player's friend Andres d'Alessandro. A former team-mate of Saviola at River Plate and current Zaragoza player, d'Alessandro is still close to the Barça man and told Cadena SER radio an accord had been reached.

Saviola has played a peripheral role for the Catalan this club, despite the long term injuries to Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o.

Despite not featuring in coach Frank Rijkaard's first team plans at the start of the season, he has slowly forced his way into the picture, impressing in his nine Liga outings.

Thursday's Sport newspaper reports the Camp Nou club are preparing to offer a contract extension to the Argentinian.

However, the paper also claims the offer will represent a dramatic pay cut from 4.5 million euros per season to 2.5 million.

Juventus are well on their way to promotion back into Serie A, and want to build a side capable of competing immediately for the Scudetto.

Last summer they lost numerous high profile stars, including Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluca Zambrotta, Lilian Thuram, Emerson, Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

I liked him before he went to Barca, he looked really promising, but since he went there his talent faded away as he never played a game. It will be a good signing for Juve if he plays most games.

Saviola is a very good player, he is quick and got the talent to be the best. I think his move to Juve could be his big break. I am certainly sure that he will make his breakthrough as he would receive many first team opportunities

first i have heard about barca selling him
i know he is a free agent this summer & that juventus are rumored to be interested
when he first joined barca he had a great 18 months period
but then he wasnt first choice & simply lost match fitness & confidence
at one time he was as profilic as etoo was last season
thou knowing rikjaard/barca will not view him as a starter, it may be better for him to leave
Juventus are a big club & offer him a chance to help them in serie A next season
he is still 25 & with plenty of exerience too,
too catch if juv do get him

Interesting deal, especially considering that Saviola was one of their most major players last season, I reckon hell be good for Juventus though, btw, where are they in the table in Serie B?
