Mendes to blank Thatcher apology
Pedro Mendes will refuse to shake hands with Charlton's Ben Thatcher when they meet at Fratton Park on Saturday.

========================================
Do you think he is being a little childish in not evening recognising Thatcher exists. What if he need to tackle him, will he leave him a lone as he "doesn't exist" lol.
If i was Mendes I don't think I would shake his hand either. He's a thug at the end of the day.

I don't blame him at all. Thatcher assaulted him, no doubt about it. It was nothing resembling a tackle, rather, it was a elbow to the face delivered during a furious sprint that nearly ended Mendes's career.
I won't consider him a poor sportsman for not shaking the hand of the man who maliciously assaulted, and nearly ended his career. Thachter shouldn't even be playing football after that hit anyway.

he did apologise though, hes at a new club now, and a new start. It was a horrible tackle but i think Mendes should forget and play football. If he doesnt then Ben to score a goal and win the game would be a nice wake up call to him.

its wasn't a tackle, it was an assault.

i suppose but it was in september, nasty yes and thatch payed his suspension and not said anything of it. If pedro wants to avoid him let him. I just thought for a premier league player wouldnt be so pathetic about him. no one died, its a bit silly to behave in the way.

is not silly. It more than fare, it was close to being a career threatening injury or a life one. Either way, if doesn't want to shake hands who are we to judge.

Its up to him to act in the way he feels is best and I think its fair for him to keep apologies at distance because that was a terrible challenge.
