With Beckham moving to the US to see off his career, do you think more Americans will start to watch football or do you think it will not change a thing?
Personally i think it will make more people have a little look at the great game and hopefully it will kick start the "soccer" revolution in the USA. It would be great to have the USA liking football as its much better than American Football where they all get padded up.
I don't think Americans have the concentration to watch a game with (copmared to football) so few goals.

If loads of other players follow him over..then US football will get alot better... Robbie Fowlwer was the last linked with a move over there...

Well, I obviously already watch- I have half-season tickets to the fire....maybe t.v. numbers won't improve greatly...but it certainly will help sell-out stadiums...the galaxy may sell out most of the season to season ticket holders only now, as an example

and no offense, but in terms of people saying american football is a pansy sport, it's had more parallelizations than any other major team sport....but i think in the States, soccer has a reputation as being a sport for criers (cuz of players that go down easy)....but i've tried to defend it as much as possible, cuz i know how rough it can be...especially around here, they don't call nearly as many fouls as they do in europe...but anyway, thanks for your support of football (soccer) in the States boro boy.....and the good news is I think it's at least passing up hockey to get in the "top 4" around here...

i suspect due to it's proximity, a lot of japanese tourist will visit LA to watch him play, and that will push attendances up. And lets not forget Beckham is still a good player, and he will provide lots of oppertunities to score, and pop in with a few free kicks as well. Reyna has moved to NY red bulls, and i suspect a few more players will head to America as opposed to Saudi Arabia. I have started catching a few Gridiron games as they are being shown on ITV, and they are ok, but it's way too stop start, with only a short burst of action, some male hugging, then another short burst, it doesn't even compare to rugby, which i dont like but would find more entertaining as it flows more.
I think he'll attract fans but i'm not sure that he'll make a massive impact on the 'soccer' over there. I don't think that much people know him well in America as of yet, whether it be football or celebrity related.
I think though, from the hype hes bringing to LA Galaxy, people are bound to see what its all about and it might help the progress of increasing audiences a bit.

I do hope so, football is a quality game and they are missing out on it.
The main problem is that it is a differen culture over there. In England, big soccer players become celebrities because of their lifestyle helped by the fact soccer is the number one sport.
In the US soccer isn't the number one sport and their are so many more celebrities than in Britain, David Beckham isn't going to be the top personality in the states, like he is in England.

Well Victoria got a good reception at the Airport, there were cameras everywhere so I think there will be a lot of interest in USA. They love the british celebs, I think it will really help the game in the US.
Beckham is bound to help football become more popular over there, and like domcassells said, there will definitely be tourists interested in seeing him play. Was Pele successful when he tried to promote football by playing there towards the end of his career?

I think so because he's been all over the news and people are going to want to see what all the hype is about.
