Everton to snatch Fernandes

Skysports.com understands that Everton have made a late bid to snatch Manuel Fernandes from underneath the noses of Premiership rivals Middlesbrough.

The Portuguese international has just returned to Benfica after Portsmouth failed to complete a permanent deal for him after he spent the first half of the season on loan at Fratton Park.

Fernandes produced enough during his spell to impress a number of managers and Middlesbrough had looked favourites to seal a loan deal, with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

However, skysports.com has now learnt that Everton have made a late bid to snatch the 20-year-old and it appears they will be successful.

Boro have been closing on Fernandes in recent weeks, but talks have not gone as well as had been expected and that could very well cost them the deal.

Haven't seen too much of him to be honest to make a judgement. Heard Redknapp didnt want him at Pompeyas he didnt want to pay the £7milion fee. What do you think of him?
