Why dont they have roofs?

There is nothing to protect the fans from the elements. It would look crap on tv if the fans arent in their seats because either its too hot or its raining. Having a roof would also improve the atmosphere and create a better home advantage.

you cant stick it on with glue, it costs a lot of money to put a roof on, especially existing statiums, as they may need to be re pinned, and there doesn't seem to be the revenue there in the first place, sill idea really

most MLS teams are owned by rich american tycoons, surely they can afford it cant they. Do they play through the winter, abit of sun wouldn't bother them as they'll be used to it.

They would get sun burn would they not? You have to be protected from the elements.

Only a few of them have roofs. The majority don't have any cover.

I would have to agree that it is very expensive for teams to build roofs. Also the MLS season is during the summer months, so they won't be exposed to harsh winter weather. As for being sunburned, the players should put on some sunscreen.

Well half the teams share NFL stadiums which dont have roofs and never will. Some are really old like RFK(DC United) and Arrowhead(KC). But some newer arenas like LA and Colorado have roofs and also Chicagos new stadium. Those are specific to the MLS clubs; Its just going to happen over time as the older NFL stadiums are phased out. But i need to remind you that there is not much revenue so it aint going to happen overnight.
