Some people really haven't a clue...
I'm a tech support engineer for a software company. I had a guy call up rather annoyed that the disks we'd sent him containing the latest version of our software didn't work.
Customer: "The install fails half way through. I tried several times, and it always fails at the same point."
Tech Support: "Did you see any kind of error message?"
Customer: "Yes."
Tech Support: "What did the error message say?"
Customer: "It said, 'Please insert Disk 2.'"
Tech Support: "Have you got another disk there?"
Customer: "Yes."
Tech Support: "Is it labeled 'Disk 2'?"
Customer: "Yes, it is."
Tech Support: "Insert that disk into the drive, and click 'OK'."
Customer: "Wow, thanks! That's fixed it. It's installing now. What was it, a faulty disk or something?"

it can be. i did support for a few years and once in a while you get to answer a call which you can only shake your head at and ask 'did I really just have that conversation?'
I once had to explain what reboot meant.
Lol, I can believe that theres people out there that have no clue what so ever about computers. Its a good read though.

the funniest was me phoneing aol and telling the bloke im paying for an 8meg line and when i did a test using the offical software they tell you to use i said i was getting 400kbps which as we know is 0.4meg, he told me that 4meg was good enough i said i was getting 0.4meg but he wouldnt have it, he was adiment that it was 4meg, so i spoke to a manager there and they agreed with me and said i was chattin to a recptionist who was trying to help
that is 4meg isnt it? :eusa_think: when I was on 10meg I was getting 1200kb/s downstream (slightly more) and when I was on 4mb I was getting about 440kb/s

think of it this way what speed do bt do, 8mb/s, 4mb/s, 2mb/s, 1mb/s and 512kb/s, so 512kb/s is half of 1mb/s, i argue mine to make it quicker
i just ran this test http://speedtester.bt.com/ and mine came back as
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5420 kbps
so im gettin 5420kb/s download
