View Full Version : England v Spain
can't wait for this game, we will get to see some new blood in the squad up against an extremely young, talented Spanish side. If we get off to a quick start we should be able to hold them off for most of the game. It will be interesting to see how Woodgate will fair against some former team-mates and to see how young Ben Foster copes with the experience up against Torres and David Villa.

Im surprised at Foster actually. I think hell do a good job. Im surprised at the Neville brothers being in the squad. I dont really care about this game as im an Ireland fan, but its good to see how the City players do, but it doesnt look like Barton of Micah will get a game.
I believe it will draw. 1-1:nod:

We can all blame the Crouchie Monster for England's debacle tonight!
Assuming it all goes pear shaped that is. It's got all the ingredients to do so, with that prick Dire in there, and the sterile one up front tactic.
No doubt Crouchie will take most of the blame though.
If only Defoe was there eh everything would be so different (doesn't have to be Defoe just stick in a name of your choice).
What a shit performance, the game in general was sh*t. Spain won 0-1, a good goal by Iniesta. the ref/linesmen gave us nothing all game. Crouch especially :ranting:

It was a poor result especially with all the build up.
Thank God Ireland won as losing or drawing to San Marino could have been a lot more embarasing.
I never watched the game, I don't know why they can't play together? there all capable of making England a dominant national team but just don't seem to make the effort.
And they wonder why the support is so crap.

Defoe was shit also. No-one had a decent game, they were all rubbish, did anyone expect us to win? Probably all the people who believe the media who always assume we will win. At the end of the day we are shit.

That performance was diabolical no passion no idea no creativity McClaren has got no idea about international football he is out of his depth and if he carries on much longer i can only see things getting worse i think we need a new manager in now and if its got to be another foreigner then so be it

Yeah, when 1-1 came up it lightened my mood, Marino must be gutted now :LolLolLolLol:
I thought Foster looked ok, he seemed comfortable and gathered crosses that came into the box well. i thought SWP was our best player, his final ball was shit but he caused alot of problems to their left back with his pace and movement. i think we'll lose against israel.
I personally think its something to do with the players, they just don't seem to be able to gel with each other. It look as if the national duty is more a chore than anything, lacking enthusiasm.

Er, I was actually heartened by the England performace!
In the circumstances.
By the way, I didn't follow the game just by listening to some radio phone in after the game (although I do like to listen to the stupid ill-informed rantings). I actually watched the game TWICE. Normally watching an England game twice would be very painful indeed. This wasn't.
Yes I know some players weren't playing that would normally have, we should have had someone on the left and Lampard has to be dropped, and Lennon was missed terribly.
But I was pleased with the general pattern of the play, (although the crossing was poor)in the sense that we were more patient than usual, we didn't keep trying the "Hollywood ball" down the middle as we normally do. Garry Linacre said at half time it was "pleasantly encouraging" (but it was 0-0 then)and the score line determines everyones views of the performance.
I thought it was pleasantly encouraging for the whole game.

Just out of interest: I've not yet seen evidence that Woodgate is anything like as quick as he used to be.
Not sure if he's worried going flat out would risk another 12 months on the injury table.

Well you wouldnt expect him to be as fast as he used to be with all the injuries hes had...
The good thing about woodgate is he reads the danger straight away, thats what makes him so good...
