Now we all know the answer is no, but last Saturday, the oppositon got a foul for obstruction, which we all know is an indirect free kick, the player then went on to lob me, without me or anyone else touching it, and the ref gave it. He made no gesture as to whether the free kick was direct or indirect, so what's the deal here, were we hard done by

yeah, you got hard done by but it goes both ways. What level was this by the way?
i would say you were hard done by dom.
CF i think its sunday league, not sure though
Make an appeal to the FA if you feel the ref has made an error, that is if you went on to lose the game.

that would take too long. just find out where he lives and give him a direct kick.... in the balls :nodyes:

ha, it's Saturday League, hence i said last saturday ( obviously not a CSI in waiting ) , and seriously the complaints procedure is wayy too long, we ended up drawing 2-2 after leading 2-0, but we were away and they are good team, so all in all not TOO bad
Well it has cost you 3 points, you could complain and say you don't want to have the same ref again. I'm a goallie and I hate the feeling when you're lobbed :icon_redface:

It's the worst thing what could happen to a goalkeeper, I hate being lobbed aswell - it hasn't happened in a while though... 4 games now :gaydance:
Next match try, pick the ball up in your area, put it under your shirt and run into the opposition goal, see what happens

If the referee points his hand straight up in the air he's awarded an indirect free-kick, could be that he saw the incident as a foul instead of obstruction?

Fair one, as long as you don't touch the ball when your outside your box, you should be ok.
I wonder if there is a rule stopping you from doing this.

maybe unsporting conduct but apart from that nothing much preventing you...
