Simple as.
With recent results, performances and now this team selection do you have any confidence in Steve McClaren to lead England to Euro 2008?
Going to have to sit on the fence here. Although he hasn't made a great start, it's too early to tell.
To become a good manager you have to have several qualities. He hasn't been able to kill of the "smaller" teams, but you've got to give him more of a chance.
If you look at club level, Curbishley beat Man Utd in his first game in charge, if there'd been a month break after that people would still be going on about what a wonderful job he was going to do with WH. The fact is that McClaren is still learning about being a head coach of an international team, and if we do qualify, hopefully the squad will have gelled more, they won't need as much motivation (one of his weaknesses I think) and we could do well.
That said you have to judge him on results so far and so far he hasn't got them, but it's too early.
well i know am scots etc but to be honest i don't think Mclaren is up to the england job but it is wrong at this stage to diss the guy ,He needs to be given the time and well maybe he will prove likes of me wrong but somehow i just don't think so
I think him and sven are alike in a few ways. Both dont have a very good knowledge of their tactics. After the first few games against Greece and Macedonia I thought he was the right one for the job. Both him and Sven don't show the passion when their managing and there choice in substitutions/squad selection isn't good at all.
he's dropped Beckham and kept in Crouch, if we are going to have one of the tallest strikers in europe up front we need to have the right supply of crossing.
I think the passion card is easy to use just because a manager isn't that good. However I think it's just a different style, if Sven had won the WC with us then no-one would have cared that he hadn't shown passion.
The problem with Sven was that he had no plan b or tactically, nothing to do with passion imo. Same with mcClaren, I agree with you on that.
he only got 5 matchs is it? i forgot lol.
He need time. Hope he chose right players, not stupid like Sven who pick Walcott.:no2:
McClaren did pick f*** Phil Neville, please dont pick him again!

He probably needs more time to show his true colours, but has not made the best first impression!
No
I have hated him ever since he was at Manchester united, and went to Middlesbrough. He plays to stop people scoring and not to score himself he’s also a boring old fart.
TERRY V FOR MANAGER!!

The FA hires someone from within and no good comes from it. If you loose to Israel in Israel which i think you will i believe he'll be gone and i wouldn't be suprised if he brings back Beckham for your next games. McClaren really lacks passion and with the egos on the England team do you really think they really listen to him? More like yeah right Gaffer anything you say.
I would be surprised if he goes even if he loses to Isreal. Just look how reluctant the FA were to sack sven, it would also cost them a fortune

i dont think mclaren can cut it at international level. He did a great job at middlesbrough. I feel that he should just be a club manager. I feel that the fa chose mcclaren because it was the easiest thing to do.
There's more difference than people think between international and club. Sounds obvious, but one is about building a squad that will play week in week out and build team spirit, clubs are more influence by the manager than national squads, which is about getting several players who do not play together week in week out, to play as a team. I think that's where the last two England managers, both who have good club records, have struggled.

I agree, well said. Saying that, I dont think Venables would be a good manager either.
We should of done everything to convince Scolari to come over here. World cup winner 2002, euro 2004 runner-up and World Cup 2006 4th place with Brazil and Portugal. He was the right choice imo, there aren't many decent English bosses that are international quality

well no one has said yes yet, lol, i dont think he's stong enough to do the job
I see everyone likes him then :hahaha:
I have never had confidence in him. He may be have been boro's most succesful manager be he was still pretty rubbish.
We only got to the UEFA cup final because the team got a huge amount of togetherness and it seemed like they were doing it for themselves and the fans. Not mcclaren.

I have no confidence in hm what so ever.
He was given the job because of Boro's performance at the time.
Although O'Neill's at vila now (weh hey) I think he should have been given the job. He's a decent manager, McLaren's pants.
