I gave blood yesterday for the fourth time and I try to give blood as often as I can. I couldn't for the past 2 years as I was in a Malaria Risk Zone and had taken tablets for Malaria. But its good to give blood again.

Ive gave blood before,tho the last time we had the mobile unit at work i couldnt,too soon after surgery,and yes smokers can give blood.

i can't give blood yet do u have to be 16 or 18?? anyway when i am old enough i will be! my parents know that if anything happens to me i want to donate my organs!

Only thing I've given blood to was the hospital, that was in June last year when I had the fit. They had to do blood tests on me.

for various medical reasons they won't take my blood now (and no i don't have aids or anything like that before any smart asses get in there) i used to give about 18 years ago but because of other stuff not anymore,And to all that do give you are stars as it saves lives every fecking day well done all you donors

I dont give blood myself but then again i dont have enough for me nether mind anyone else.

This my opinion from what i have read, blood is over used in the majority of operations, most dont need it, it is used to stop the hospital in trouble if anyone dies, but blood does do anything in someones body for 3 days,

thats is what i have gathered from when i had an operation and i opted out of it and im fine, this isnt the case for everyone i understand that, im speakinf from my point of view

there was aprogram on tele on the bbc i found the link BBC NEWS | Health | Meeting life's challenges head on they reconed that normally in this type of operation you would get 6 pints of blood or more but they didnt want any, anyway the operation went well and she lost about half a cup of blood, they have sumert called a cell saver for when there operating that sucks up blood cleans it and puts it back in. its well cool what doctors can do now
