Any comments regarding this league?

Especially comments regarding the development of centre of excellence/acadamies at associated clubs; Will it happen and how?

A league that is topped by TNS isn't a great one.

Simon will know more about this I'd guess though

Two players have left cash-starved Principality Welsh Premier club Cwmbran Town, while Nationwide South side Newport County have offered a helping hand to their struggling neighbours.

Leading scorer Jody Jenkins is joining rivals Haverfordwest County, while full back Terry Green is to sign for Hereford club Westfields in the Polymac Services Midland Alliance.

Jenkins has made a stunning comeback to the Welsh Premier, scoring twelve league goals in fourteen games since returning to the Crows after a spell with local Welsh Leaguers Croesyceiliog. Formerly with Barry Town and TNS, he has a domestic career total of forty-five goals from seventy-eight appearances.

Green signed for Newtown from Sport Italia Hellenic League side Pegasus Juniors in September 2000 and followed manager Brian Coyne to Cwmbran in the summer of 2003, making a total of 129 Welsh Premier starts.

"Jody was extremely upset to be leaving and his scoring ability speaks for itself, while Terry has been unbelievably consistent. But I think I will be losing more players," says manager Sean Wharton.

Meanwhile, Newport have suggested opening the doors of a planned practice match on December 20th, arranged to bridge the gap between the Exiles' FA Trophy clash against AFC Sudbury and a Boxing Day game in Nationwide South.

"To lose a club so close would be tragic and we don't want it to happen," said County boss Peter Beadle. "And perhaps the Crows could take it a stage further and ask Cardiff City and Swansea City for similar SOS games."

Beadle has forged strong links with Wharton since arriving at Spytty Park and added: "I have become very good friends with Sean and we both have the same philosophy on how things should be done.

"In view of their plight it is important that we do as much as we can because they are our friends and neighbours. If we can help out and make it a benefit match by opening it up to the public then it's the right thing to do."

The game at Cwmbran Stadium will include invited players and Wharton may well come out of retirement himself.
