Where was the fire and the passion in the players for crying out loud? I think i know the answer, its because the players know they are going to be selected no matter how bad they are playing.

They should all be ashamed of themselves for that performance.

One thing i cant tolerate in football is a lack of commitment.

that's different, footballers have bigger egos. The likes of gerrard, lamps, rooney today just couldn't be bothered,

4 games - no goals is just embarresing considering the talent we have

No it aint different its about pride??
Not pompous egos.
The sad thing is more people care about the guys wearing the 3 lions, than the real men.

The "Fire" and passion was in Norway. Didn't you see it? I know what you're talking about. A lot has to do with the egos and another bit has to do with a manager who doesn't earn the respect of his players. You go from a coach like Jose or Ferguson to McClaren? You think a SvenClone can inspire them. He's got as much passion as a yoga instructor. If you can't beat Andorra, it's as good as over.

i read somewhere that an altercation took place
between maclaren & rooney
& the players said he isnt the only one responsible for scoring goals
which is sort of right
the continuous shuffling of the lineup& the poor form of many of the players
maclaren isnt tough enough to drop some of these palyers
he did cut loose bechkam, because he wanted to manage the team but it looks like now
england would do well to get him back, they need a leader
as well as a manager

McClaren has denied this this afternoon, i dont see why everyone in general has been having a pop at rooney for england playing bad in the qualifying, he hasn't had the best service from gerrard has he with the long ball bollox we do nowadays. Once Becks is brought back, I guarentee you we'll see the Man utd Rooney.

Why can people not see the difference between a bad performance and one with a lack of passion/commitment...?

Most of the players have more at stake playing for England in a match that will help them get to a major tournament than they do with their clubs, as with the exception of Man Utd and Chelsea, there is less impact one match can have on their seaosn. (i.e. Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal)
