View Full Version : [Euro 2008 qualifying] Andorra v England
Lets get the discussion going! Will you settle for a mere 0-1 win or are you expecting a 5, 6-0 thumping in Spain on wednesday?
Bring in Richards for Neville, keep the defence the same. Keep Hargreaves, put Lennon on the right, gerrard in the centre with downing or barry on the left.
Up front we should stick with rooney, who was terrible but I believe he'll be back on fire, playing off Defoe?

A win, i'm not bothered what the score is, we just need a win, this is desparate at the moment.
To be honest when they played us at Old Trafford they couldn't get out of their own half. Ok England were better then than they are now and Andorra will have away advantage, but if we don't win this it will be an embarrasment.

Well it will be on in a few hours, 20:00 BST. I don't know if I'll be watching it as i've not really got the money. But I think we will beat them, we need to anyway.

I think the win is there, but I'm certain most fans want to see a quick and merciless slaughter of Andorra, 3 or more goals. I don't know if I'll be watching, if a stream is available maybe, but a bit more interested in watching italy vs scotland
Well there is some good news ahead of the game, Frank lampard is injured with a cracked wrist bone :D

Glad Downing is playing. Is Woodgate fit to play or isn't he in the lineup?
No such thing as an easy game in international football these days...
...and I'm sure Andorra won't be treating their opposition lightly

Latest Team News From the BBC:
England midfielder Frank Lampard has been ruled out of the Euro 2008 qualifier against Andorra on Wednesday due to a cracked bone in his wrist.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury during training on Monday when he was struck by a Wayne Rooney shot.
But the injury is worse than was first thought and Lampard will not feature at Espanyol's Olympic Stadium.
Stewart Downing is expected to step in to the midfield on the left, with Aaron Lennon playing wide on the right.
Ashley Cole is back from suspension and will replace Jamie Carragher at left-back, while Micah Richards is set to step in at right-back in place of Phil Neville.
Meanwhile, England boss Steve McClaren has launched an impassioned defence of his players' attitude, saying they do care about playing for the national side.
The squad have been criticised for a lack of passion after recent below-par displays.
But McClaren said: "They care. They're passionate about playing for England.
"It hurts them when they lose. It's 10 times harder playing for your country than it is for your club."
Saturday's 0-0 draw with Israel leaves England three points behind second-placed Russia and five adrift of Group E leaders Croatia - and in danger of not qualifying for Euro 2008.
McClaren added: "There's no problem with their attitude.
"They want to win. They failed on Saturday because they didn't score a goal, end of story."
Ashley cole and richards as wing backs should help us create more chances and goals. Andorra are 163rd in the world, failing to win and we'd be the laughing stock of the world
No Lampard!!!! He has broken his wrist! Finally the worst Midfield partnership is broken! HALLELUJAH!! :thumbup1:

Andorra are wasting time by going down every time they get touched. During the first half it looked like they were trying to get Rooney to loose his temper

Nugent scores his first goal (maybe). it was a defoe shot, it was trickling in and Nugent tapped it in. 3-0

well we eventually won 0-3
very cheeky goal from nugent. he must have really really wanted it to take it from defoe.
McClaren still aint off the hook as far as I'm concerned. We only beat shitty andorra. Wait til the russia games. we'll probably get trounced by them.

Cant believe the commentator said if he has to go down then thats the time. They didn't criticise him at all. Imagine that was Ronaldo diving against Englan? They would have been saying he should have been sent off.

i didnt watch the game on the priciple i didnt want to waste my time watchin paint dry
The first half was very dull, looked as if it was going to yet another stressful night, but they seemed to have got that goal and thats what boosted them.
I'm not entirely sure everyone is satisfied just yet, sure we won 3-0, but it could have been alot more and besides that, England need to start stepping their game up NOW, and now on...

it wouldnt have mattered how many they scored or how well they played
the press & fans were bound to criticize & not approve
so in a way the 3 points are all that matters
England have a tough job ahead of them
croatia are firmly in driving seat & Russia have Hidijink who is a known houdini act

If we had played well then we would be happy, but that game does not justify the score. Yeah we won 0-3 but we played awful.
Second half was alright. Important to get a win but McClaren couldn't win last night. Still second half performance was much better.
Oh and great long range effort from Nugent!

It wasn't the best of games. Very poor and disappointing first half. Second half started almost the same as the first, but I think they picked up the pace a bit. I'm glad they got Rooney subbed off, and used defoe and nuggent. I think this last partnership was rather good.
Would the game have been different if lampard was on and not gerrard? who knows, in the end it's the 3 points that matter. They still have the tough games against croatia and russia to deal with.
what a load of crap, if we play like that against Andorra, how will we fair against average teams :ranting:
