View Full Version : Why Does the England Manager Get So Much Shit

Every England manager we have gets shit for not getting the players motivated for the games. I am on the managers side here as the manager picks the side and tactics. But the players then have to perform these tasks.

Saturdays game was rubbish, we had no love for the game, it looked as though they were not bothered and this is just pathetic as they are playing for their country.

I would say drop half the team or even bring in the full U21s team to play against andorra, they are scoring plenty of goals at the minutes and playing better than the "so called" professional players in the senior teams.

There is too much ego on the pitch and no matter what manager we have, the same players and formations are picked so there is obviously going to be no change. We need to drop the poorly playing players and bring in new faces. They are probably playing poor as they know they will not be dropped.

I blame the manager but I also blame the players more as they are the people whom are put onto the pitch to win the game.

Were not actually as good as we think we are, to be honest alot of our team wouldn't recieve half the hype they get if they were Italian or Spanish.

Everyone's to blame though really. Managers tend to make a lot of mistakes in games, like subbing the wrong players often or putting the wrong player on at the start of the game to begin with. At the end of the day, if a player, or the team as a whole performs and lives up to expectations with one manager, then doesn't with another then of course the manager is going to get the blame. A full team doesn't just suddenly lose skill and success for no good reason

Well we haven't lost any succes as we've not had any since 66. So it can't be the managers :).

Lol of course it can. Managers choose the players, the tactics, they choose subs - who and when, they change the team around like a MOFO and put the most unlikely pairings together to make an idiotic part of a team. Yea, our players aren't exactly the best in the world, but they can certainly do better than they are. I think the media has a lot to do with it to be honest - they boost the player's egos up and make them out to be more than they are, they have a go at the managers and put personal attention on the players to distract them from the game.

The media is the main problem, or is another affecting factor. They build the team up and the fans up into believing they are good. Then when we lose they are on the players back, that can't be good for the teams confidence.

And they go into a player's personal life and wonder why they don't play as well on the pitch. As far as football goes, media is more harm than good.

Of course it's the managers fault. I've heard people say that there's no passion, I don't agree with it, but if it is then who's responsibility is it to motivate the players?

At the end of the day whatever reason you put down to England's problem, the manager is responsible, whether it be passion, ability of players or inability to reproduce their club form, McClaren has to take a certain amount of responsibility.

agree with BB & evertonscouser

media over hyping england chances too
for a nation that hasnt won any silverware since 66
the expectation level is simply unrealistic
