RANGERS are close to fixing up a glamour Battle of Britain friendly against Chelsea at Ibrox this summer.
The clubs are nearing the end of negotiations which will see Jose Mourinho bring his star-studded squad north on the last Saturday in July.
It is expected arrangements could be confirmed in the next few days.
Question marks are certain to be raised over the decision by Rangers to take on a fixture which will provide a stern test as to their ability to enforce a zero-tolerance policy for sectarian chanting during games.
Last season SPL champions Celtic warmed up with a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in August and the match wasmarred by crowd trouble before and after the game. Eleven fans were arrested as violence erupted on the streets of London with riot police using truncheons to separate warring supporters in Fulham Road.
Rangers and Chelsea fans have enjoyed a close alliance in recent years but with the Glasgow club currently under investigation from UEFA over sectarian singing, the fixture is certain to come under close scrutiny.

Such an easy win for Chelsea, need they turn up?
