Don't know if you have heard about this but Ken Livingstone is planning
to
use tax payer's money to build an enormous mosque costing an estimated
100M
in the docklands. What do you think about it? Wouldn't it be better to
spend the money on a new hospital or improved transport facilities??

The mosque scheduled to be built in the docklands area is due to the fact that to accomadate the successful olympic campaign a huge number of mosques in the area are having to close to make way for the olympic village. The plans also include a multi faith centre and if any churches were involved in redevelopment they were offered a new build as well. this is a multicultural society and the whole olympic ethos is about non discrimination. if we can't tolerate a faith that has just a 4% following in this country then we really are back in the dark ages!!!

Religion is just made up. I hate it, its the cause of nearly all the wars. I don't have a problem with them, we have mosques in Middlesbrough and the people look like normal law abiding citizens. If you object to this type of thing then the only way to object is by using your vote. Not on some two-bit newspaper poll but on a election that affects you and your area. local elections are upcoming soon so use your voice. In the last general election around 3 million votes were cast out of around 30 million available. this is less than half the amount cast in the X-factor final!! If everybody uses their voice someone will listen.

Around my area in london, about 1 mile away from the olympic site, there are around 5 mosques within a 2 mile area. These are all within old shops or part shared as a community centre. I really do not have any problems with Muslims and maybe if certain people stopped seeing all other religions as the enemy then we might stand a chance of all getting along.

The good thing about having a mosque is that it shows we are a multi-faith country and you’d hope (although in vain, probably) that they’d learn from what happened in the Birmingham mosques and others, although stopping extremists is easier said than done. There are also muslims who’s faith leads them to do good in the community, however this may also make an easier training ground for extremists and also excommunicate more people from the community.

I’m proud to live in a multi-faith community, but we need to remember that everyone is British first then Muslim/Christian/Jewish whatever religion second. It’s therefore important to take on British cultural values; a lot of our tradition has been based arount the church and therefore we should not have key sites in our history, such as St. Pauls cathedral dominated by mosques.

I’m all for building more mosques if they can moderate the people spekaing. but we have to remember that this is still a Christian country, and we should respect that, even if (like me) were not all Christian
