The video shows Talking CCTV cameras in Middlesbrough.
Is this a good move?
Does it affect Human Rights?
I personally think they are a fantastic idea and they embarrass the culprits. If we didn't have these lazy teenagers/youths then these cameras would not be needed. But we do and I think they are quality, hopefully it will help Middlesbrough become a better town.
Theyr'e only really any good for making a fool out of someone when they don't put their rubbish in the bin. Its pretty funny though.

It will stop people from carrying out criminal damage.
maybe. If i was in the mood for causing some criminal damage, a voice over a speaker wouldnt stop me. not that I would do it lol.

Some Opponent to the cameras said this:
Apart from being absurd, I think it's rather sad that we should have faceless cameras barking at us
How is it Absurd?
Its doing a job and its a step in the right direction, people should be littering and causing street problems. I'm all for it.
its blatent that someone will have a heart attack from these!

I hate when people say CCTV is an invasion of privacy... If you're out in public then you're not exactly in a private place to begin with are you, and the only people that should have a problem with them being there are the people that intend to do something they're not supposed to.

Exactly, normal law abiding people like myself will not have a problem with them, and why should we.

It's barely an invasion of privacy. If, for example, you're walking into a supermarket, by about 50 people, then a camera being there recording you, simply walking, then where's the problem? The other 50 people have seen you walking, why can't the camera?

we'll get a laugh out of people though :nodyes:

No offense...but that's why we have police officers, and I see this is as a way to avoid having proper rounds. Also, a recent study done by a Citizens' Privacy non-profit group that ranked privacy in the UK as being similar to that in Russia. Don't get me wrong, I believe the UK is a fine place- one of great opportunity; but that I found that finding to be rather unsettling.

OK, I'm really going to get nailed for this comment. And hopefully this will never strike again in the world. But that exact line has been used as a fascist hook in the past (except with technology of the past). How long until the cameras are regulating more than just "crime"? Anyway, don't get me wrong, I think the cameras are a bit silly, but overall I don't really have a problem with them. But as someone living under Bush for the past 7 years, I tend to have my guard up rather frequently. :nodyes:
If I didnt put rubbish in the bin (eventhough I do) and that plonker behind the CCTV camera says pick it up, Id respond fuck off and get a proper job
Stupid idea.

It's a sad day we need them at all but if it makes these Neds behave then I'd be in favour of them.

I've already been told off by something like that :icon_redface:
Happened when I was wearing a traffic cone on my head on New Year's Eve. Didn't insult me though.
I'm not Alan Partridge.

I also hate when people have phone calls on their mobile, then when you hear them say something stupid and you laugh they try to say "Do you mind, this is a private phone call".
Fuck off to somewhere private then, you c**t.
