Where have all the bots gone, earlier this week there were hundreds of them on but now there is only 1 or two. Is this because of the server change and does this affect rankings on google/yahoo etc?

Well its because of a few things, the server change will be one of them as the changing of the domain name took over 24 hours to sort out. Also the turning off of vbseo (vBulletin Search Engine Optimisation) would have had an effect also.
The bots appear so that they can get pages and display them on Google, Yahoo, MSN Search. Stuff like that. I'm not to sure why they suddenly appeared though, I guess it could be with what BB said.

They all appeard because of vbseo. The vbseo turns the apges into search engine friendly links (html) instead of .php. So more pages get indexed and hence more spiders on the site and more visits from the search engines as more pages are included.
So if vbseo is turned on again there will be hundreds of bots again and we'll have more page views etc?

He was vbseo support staff fixing the vbseo for us.
