View Full Version : What are your ambitions?

Everyone's got ambitions. Homer Simpson's is to be a 30foot-tall solid gold man. Simon's is to say a joke that people laugh at instead of groaning (he's better than me, I just dream of being groaned at instead of people glaring and then slapping me... but enough about my pulling technique).
My top 2:
To run a marathon (I can run for 10 miles now, so I'm almost half-way there I suppose).
To travel Europe by train.

2. To Travel The World
3. To Listen To The Best Music In The World (Funky House) :) Whilst pissed out of my head :)
Thats about it for the time being.

My Granddad was a chief petty officer during the war.
I'm hoping to complete initial training for the RNR, but it'll take about 3 years :(
Been thinking of joining full-time, but not sure yet.

Go to Everton vs. Man Utd at Goodison, you won't regret it if you want a great atmosphere :)
Don't come to Goodison unless it's Man Utd or the derby though as there's more atmosphere on the moon usually.

Thanks for the suggestion . I'll keep it mind, if and when I get around to visiting the UK. Don't see it happening for a few years.

Yeah go for it mate, its an easy job really, the only hard part if I can call it hard, is the time away from your family. But you have a great laugh on board, you make loads of new mates, and some people you want to kick their heads in, but they are everywhere in life lol.
You can only try it at the end of the day. The salary is good, and the pension is amazing really. If i become chief and stay in for 22 years (just another 15 1/2 left) then i get a lump sum (tax free) of about £35,000 and then £500 per month, but this is indexed rated so it will be a lot more as the cost of living is always rising.
You see the world also, i've been to:
Norway
Scotland
Ireland
N. Ireland
Germany
Belgium
USA
Mexico
The Gulf: Dubai, Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, Muscat
Gibraltar
Cyprus
Rhodes
Matla
And thats only in 6 1/2 years i've been in the Navy. Hopefully i can get onto a new Type 45 and go on a Global, to the far east and Australia. Its quality.
I'd like to travel the world also, not literally the whole of it but theres a few certain places i'd like to go to such as; Japan, China, Thailand, USA (certain states LA, Florida, New York), Australia, South Africa, Mexico, Canada.

Sounds good mate, been reading the Navy News the last few months and some of the stuff in there looks dead interesting.
Not sure whether to finish my degree off first and apply for officer entry though.

ohhh, stinking officer lol the money is even better, and all they seem to do is have meetings and look at stuff on computers, printing reports and picking things up (defects and stuff).

To be honest I'm put off applying for officer entry because it doesn't look like as much fun, but I might regret thinking like that when I'm 30.

Offerers are stuck up their own arses and are really really annoying. Officers don't usually mix with the Junior mates (like me) or the Senior Rates.
If you want the money, become officer.
If you want a laugh and the money go in General service as and ET(ME) (Engineering Technician (Marine Engineer).
Dunno really, I wanna go all over the world, get passed college and maybe uni, then just get a good job etc really...

I'm not really bothered about money myself, as long as I have enough to get by. Apart from my season ticket the only item of any value I own is my bike, which cost £120.
Not too sure if I settled down with a future girlfriend she'd see it like that though.
God, I'm under the thumb before getting into the relationship, is that a new record? :D
Mine is to either run the marathon or to scuba dive at the bottom an exotic ocean seeing all of the creatures.
I'd like to go see parts of the world like: Rio De Janeiro, Egypt, Cuba, Hawaii, Mexico, Japan and skiing in the alps.

University is very very interesting.
Apart from the learning stuff, that's boring as hell.

To be a successful musician either as a solo artist or in a band and play my music to people all around the world.
It WILL happen as well.
