whats the deal with defenders shepparding the ball out of play? if it happended anywhere esle on the pitch it would be obstruction. I think it should be a freekick because they are not making a genuine effort to play the ball.

i have oftern thought that, but i dunno,
I think its fine. Genuine part of the game, shielding the ball is fine, reducing the physical prescence wil make it a pussy sport.

no its not the physical side im talking about its the defender not making an attemt to play the ball that shits me, and if it happened anywhere esle on the pitch it would be obstruction

it would only be obstruction if the attacker decided to run into the defender and drop to the floor like a little girl

lol. this should not really result in a free kick because the defender has not stoppoed the attacker from going for the ball. the defender has every right to stand and place his body where he wishes but just not in cases where an attack is in progress if you understand wot my point is...
