I propose that it's time that caning is brought back into schools.
And not just a light tap, either.
Three damn good thrashes so that you have a hard time sitting back down again.
I was in the last class that had physical punishment at school - and I'll tell you this; If you ever had a caning, you never wanted to see it again. Trust me on that.
With so much attitude and civil disobedience from 11-16 year olds nowadays, perhaps it's time to - literally - knock some sense and discipline back into them.
Good thread I found. I think caining needs to come back as these kids have too many rights, they should have any rights at their age. Obviously they have to have rights to stop them being abused and stuff but these days, if you look at them wrong you get arrested.

Oh god dont talk about school kids, i almost hit one when i went out for my lunch today.. cant stand scalley school kids from Thornaby..
I went into Greggs to get some lunch and the que was huge with all these school kids..when i went to walk out, the was this huge fat lass stood in the door, i went to walk round her, and her goofy mate decided it would be funny to stand on the other half of the door to stop me walking out, (Thought he was proper big infront of his mates) and he wouldnt move.. so i grabbed him and just threw the little prick out the way, then the fat lass started shouting something at me, but couldnt understand what she was saying, dont understand scalley language me :nodyes: (I understood the word w a n ker that was about it) :nodyes:
I was in a bad mood before id even gone in there, so i didnt really give a shite that he was only about 14
Teachers should be able to cane the little twats.. i would hate to be a teacher

I saw that on OSR as well, and while i agree that most kids (myself NOT included) these days are whiny little over-protected snots, i don't think it's right to bring back the strap or caning or whatever... i listen to the stories that my parents and uncles and aunts tell about it, and they've never had anything good to say about it to put it nicely.
Violence doens't solve bad behavior.
Maybe we should have a look at the parenting instead, ya know, the real issue.

You haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about
When I was at school 35 years ago if you didn’t get the cane once a week you was considered soft, a woos, a pansy or worse that’s how effective the cane was. We used to get the slipper for improper grammar in essays and I went to a secondary modern
It didn’t work
if you got caught playing truant you got six of the best on your arse but we still played truant
If you got caught smoking they nicked your cigs and you got two on each hand. We still smoked

No they shouldn't. If someone hits your kids, you go mental... or at least I would anyways, so why should teachers have the rights to do it when parents don't even have that right any more. You wouldn't expect to go into work and get caned for getting caught in a traffic jam and being a bit late, so why expect it to happen to kids in schools?
The way I see it, is kids should have just as many rights as us as far as safety is concerned. They're humans too.

Exactly that's the cause the kids behaviour is just the result. Some parents don't seem to care...

yeah, i say the same, parents should smack there children from an early age or they end up like most of the youth today, i was smacked when i was a kid and i thank my parents for doing so, i never been in trouble and i have alwasy enjoyed.
But disaplin isnt the biggest thing parents need to do, love and attention needs to happen aswell, most young kids today arround here just get told to go out and play and when they come in its time for bed, where as my parents use to take me out play games withme, use to go playin golf and football with my dad and i still do,

You don't need to hit someone to teach them though, do you. I mean, my sister sends her kids to bed and takes their TV out of their room and they're more sorry than what they would be if she hit them.
Kids live what they learn - you be violent to them, and they're going to be violent to other people.

I as a parent did not hit my children but did teach them to have respect for others and to be responsible for their actions
But I see it every day spoilt youngsters with kids who are defending the right of their kids to make life a misery for others
Little things like litter, going into shops with stinky kebabs or burgers, calling anyone who gets in your way a ******
How often do you hear a mobile phone churning out tinny music at full volume, kids wreaking seats and bus shelters?
Its no wonder the older generation are wary when going out they like me remember the time when you would acknowledge anybody you met in the street with a good morning/afternoon do it now and they would think you had just escaped from a nuthouse
No it’s a social problem that has to be addressed in the home not by caning at school
It wasn’t the caning that made people more responsible for their actions in the past it was the social climate they were brought up in

Both...........
Its the only authority the teachers would get but they won't be able to bring it back expecting it to work. The attitudes of some students are dire that one of em' would most probably pull a gun or knife on them.
Too little, too late I think.

TV in rooms, spoilt little people, suppose they have beds in their rooms to. Now when I were a lad.
Seriously, I think caning should be brought back in a test area, just to see if it makes any difference to the behaviour and discipline of the children.
My nominated area would be HARTLEPOOL.:roflmao:

What would be the point in bringing it back into a culture where violence is already in young children's faces? The games they play, the tv shows that they watch, sometimes even violence within the family. A child shouldn't be surrounded by the threat of violence in a place that's supposed to be considered a friendly, happy, safe learning environment for children.
If someone hit me with a stick, I'd want to smack them one back, let alone if they hit my child, if I had one that is.
of course it should be brought back ,just think on this if some fucker is gonna beat the skin off yer back for breaking the law am pretty sure ya would think twice in commiting the offence ,20 lashes would certainly make ya think about it seriously, now for the younger trouble makers get the belt back into action young fecking assholes need to be taught a good fooking lesson

Here! Here!:thumbup1:
Hitting someone with a cane aint gunna do no good atall.
The chav kids will just result in beating the techer if the teacher tryed hitting one of the kids.
Nowadays it aint how it back was in the days of caning.
So because of this no way she it be brought back... as nice as you think it would be the level of violence is stupid and you would get your head blown off.
difference between caning and violence in the public eye today is that the cane taught you that you'd done wrong whereas shooting people up in GTA or taking the chair to someone in WWE unchallenged means it's ok to do it in real life.
It's the application of violence that determines the outcome of learning IMO

No dont think so
It should be used as a last resort. If you bring violence into everyday life it's implying that it's acceptable. I know of schools (in Africa) where it's used everyday, in fact kids don't even bother to behave because they know they'll get caned anyway so might as well make it 'worthwhile'.
In England they should make say heads of schools allowed to use it, only imo.
