Football's governing body has contingency plans in case South Africa cannot host the World Cup in 2010, Fifa president Sepp Blatter has said.
List includes: United States, Mexico, Japan and Spain.

If it turns out that they have to use an alternative host, I hope it's US or Mexico. I'd be there in a heart beat!:thumbup1:
Love it to come to England, football would be coming home. The other countries aren't passionate enough about football to host a tournament :) (maybe Spain)
Japan co-hosted in 2002
It says this in the report...England is in with a chance
"Blatter cited a list of countries that could step in, including England."

I think it was a bad choice choosing Africa to host the world cup if they are looking dodgy in their attempt to complete it. I don't think it would be that good giving England it, we are currently trying to build the olympics which has gone over budget already.

thats the good thing about the world cup- everythings already in place. we already have the stadiums built and the abillity to cope with fans going to and from those stadiums. it wouldn't cost a thing

We would have to have a few new stadiums, just for the glamour, but saying that we have Wembley. What grounds would you use?
Uniteds
Arsenals
Wembley
Newcastles
Liverpools
Chelseas

Definately, it's just under 50,000. I'm sure but I think it's hosting a UEFA Cup final soon

villa park, city of manchester
untill recently hillsborough would be another obvious choice
even if we built new stadiums, that would be the fa subsidising a clubs expansion, no cost to the tax payer

If England would get it, which i highly doubt, there going to revamp stadiums and make them bigger. Also, your not going to get a city with more than one stadium being used, it would be too chaotic otherwise.

it wasnt wrong to choose the african continent
just that they chose South africa, more for political reasons & less economical & less sporting in that order
instead of more prepared & previous bidders such as Morocco & Egypt both who has hosted footballing competition before with great success.
if things dont work out for them, I would love for Spain to host it, that might give me a better chance to watch a world cup
hope to do that one day:)

COMS would be an option good enough for the commonwealth, that was its origional purpose. A joint one with Ireland then you could include Croke Park and Landsdowne Road. Plus the Millenium Stadioum in Wales. I think theres definitly enough for say Great Britain to hava a chance.
I reckon it wont be Europe though due to 06 being in Germany.

It wouldn't make sense to give it over to Japan since they co-hosted it in 2002 with Korea. I thought I heard that FIFA could give the 2010 World Cup to Brazil. Did anyone else hear about this?:thinking2:

I heard their confident it will be in South Africa in 2010. All i know is i wouldn't be suprised if this is a huge mess.
