Yes the moment of truth has finally arrived. Will we finally win something, or will will go home as usual with our tail between our legs.

We've avoided the group of death so should expect to get to the semis. It's then a case of showing these fucking foreigners we're not as shit as the "experts" claim.

Today's game against Iceland isn't televised, but the Spain v France game is (3.00 Eurosport). I might have a peek at the oppo, Spain are apparently the best side in Europe with some Barca wonder bambino.

Player profiles:

Jonathan Franks, Middlesbrough FC
Forward, 08/04/1990
A powerful forward with pace and skill, Jonathan was a permanent fixture last season in the U16s under Kenny Swain and has continued that form with John Peacock's outfit. Equally comfortable on the wing or leading the line, the Boro striker was on target in the recent defeat to Germany.

Daniel Gosling, Plymouth Argyle FC
Midfield, 1/2/1990
The highly-rated midfielder has been called into the squad for the first time. The fourth youngest player in the club's history when he made his debut against Hull in December, the Brixham born teenager has scored twice this season.

Henri Lansbury, Arsenal FC
Midfielder, 12/10/1990
A talented midfielder with great passing ability, Henri has been involved with England since playing for the Under-16s. Henri has been with Arsenal's Academy since he was nine years old and has helped them into the semi finals of The FA Youth Cup.

Joseph Mattock, Leicester City FC
Defender, 15/05/1990
The left-sided defender with aerial prowess and pace, Joseph has made impressive progress showing a good understanding of the game. He is equally at home with the ball at his feet as he is tackling an opponent. Played against Portugal and Germany in recent Algarve Tournament.

Victor Moses, Crystal Palace
Midfield, 12/12/1990
Strong, good control and with excellent skill, Victor is capable to winning a game on his own. Equally happy pushing forward from midfield or as a forward, Victor showed his class with a stunning goal against Portugal.

Rhys Murphy, Arsenal FC
Forward, 06/11/1990
A strong and determined player, Rhys has all the attributes to be a powerful centre-forward for the Three Lions. A fixture in the Under-16s last year, Rhys was on target in the recent 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi, Chelsea FC
Defender, 15/05/1990
A natural athlete, Seth Nana likes to push forward from full-back. This was shown when he charged forward to score in the recent defeat to Spain. Has been involved with England since Under-16 level.

Krystian Pearce, Birmingham City
Defender, 05/05/90
Krystian is a relative new-comer to the international scene, having made his bow for the Three Lions Azerbaijan in August 2006. He has three caps in total and was part of England's successful qualification in Bosnia.

Tristan Plummer, Bristol City
Striker, 30/01/1990
A versatile player, Tristan can either play up front or in midfield. After five goals in 11 starts for Bristol City's youth team, and a goal for the reserves, Tristan has been retained in the England squad after playing in the Algarve Tournament.

Nathan Porritt, Middlesbrough
Midfield, 9/1/1990
Nathan has been recalled to the squad after recovering from a broken leg. His last appearance in an England shirt was against Bulgaria last March. A left winger with the ability to run at players, Nathan is well though of at his club.

Daniel Rose, Leeds United
Midfield, 2/7/1990
A midfielder who loves to attack, Daniel is also ferocious in the tackle. Daniel wears number 42 for Leeds and was involved in February's trip to the Algarve, where England beat Portugal and drew with France. Influential as England qualified for the Euros.

Tommy Smith, Ipswich Town
Defender, 31/3/1990
An imposing figure, Tommy uses his height to dominate in the air. But don't be fooled, the Ipswich Town defender is also composed under pressure. Played against Germany last month.

Alex Smithies, Huddersfield
Goalkeeper, 03/05/90
Alex has been recalled to the squad after Ben Amos missed out due to injury. The Huddersfield youngster knows the international stage well though, having made eight appearances, which includes clean sheets against Portugal, Tunisia, Wales and the Faroe Islands.

Jordan Spence, West Ham United FC
Defender, 24/05/1990
Another of the more experienced group, Jordan is a confident defender with good ability on the ball and reads the game very well. After captaining the U16s to the Victory Shield last November, Jordan made the step up to John Peacock's side and grabbed a goal in the Nordic Tournament in his second match.

Jason Steele, Middlesbrough
Goalkeeper, 18/08/1990
Born in Aycliffe Village, Jason played against Portugal and Germany in the recent Algarve Tournament. A regular for his club's Academy side, the young stopper has also featured in Middlesbrough Reserves, making eight appearances as an unused substitute.

Tom Taiwo, Chelsea
Midfield, 27/2/1990
An all-action midfielder who recently moved to Chelsea from Leeds, Tom is another who took part in the recent trip to the Algarve, playing in the games against Portugal and Germany. Diminutive but combative, Tom will give everything to the cause.

Danny Welbeck, Manchester United
Midfield, 26/11/1990
Danny made his debut against Wales at Under-16 level last year. The Manchester United starlet has been in goalscoring form for his club's under-18 side, something he transferred to the international stage when he netted against Belgium in October.

Michael Woods, Chelsea FC
Midfielder, 06/04/1990
It took Michael just six minutes to announce himself on the 17s stage, waltzing through the Turkey defence before blasting into the top corner. Comfortable in the holding role, Michael scores his fair share of goals and made two substitute's appearance for Chelsea in this season's FA Cup.

thats interesting. Surprised no City players in there. We quite good at that age, its as they get older it goes down hill at our place. Good for England.

I tend to think it's because England doesn't export players abroad... but that theory get shot down when you look at Italy.

Interesting to see Gavin Hoyte sneaking into the squad for the first time. He looks a lot better than his brother (if that counts for anything).
