kysports.com understands that Yakubu Aiyegbeni is looking to leave Middlesbrough this summer.

The Nigerian is believed to have grown discontent with life on Teesside and is now ready for a fresh challenge after two years with the North East club.

Sources close to the player have revealed that Yakubu is ready to quit after recently being dropped from Gareth Southgate’s starting XI.

South Korean striker Lee Dong-gook has been brought in and Southgate could well see him as the long-term replacement for Yakubu.

The African marksman was one of the top scorers in the Premiership when he moved to Middlesbrough and his form has continued at The Riverside.

In his two years with Boro, Yakubu has notched 35 goals, but he has not scored since February and is now understood to be looking for a fresh challenge.

With the news that one of England’s most prolific strikers could be ready to move, a host of clubs from the Premiership and the continent are likely to monitor the situation — although Boro will likely be looking for a fee in the region of £10million for Yakubu, having paid £7.5million for him in 2005.

bollocks, if him and viduka do one, what are we going to do..

Fuckin hell, he gets dropped for 2 games and he has a whinge. If its true that is. He was being interviewed the other day and he was asked about the reports that Ferbenache or whoever it was were interested and he said it was rubbish and he was happy were he was. This was aired before the Fulham game.

That'll be your premiership status gone if they leave, unless lee-gook has an amazing season :animatedfear: and we all know that'll happen :animatedfear:

he is good dont understand why southgate barely played him in the second part of the season
but 10million is too much money
a gamble for any time, not that he is initial 7m isnt
there is a serious inflation in prices in EPL, makes it tell for the fans, where everything is getting more and more expensive

Depends if they get a replacement with that money, but you'll be in a relegation dog fight imo

People leave and people join the club. This doesn't mean we will be in a dog fight at the end of next season.
