Madeline Thread

Noticed that we don't seem to have a thread on this (apart from the announcement) or I haven't searched hard enough. Anyway just wanted to say a few things

1) There seems to be alot of 'Find Madeline' stuff going round the UK in various forms of media (facebook, myspace, e-mails etc.). Everyone over here must know by now, surely we've got to make it more known in countries such as Spain and the rest of Europe.

2) The expat they suspect, they don't have enough evidence to arrest him yet the police have still taken his passport away. Does this mean they can take anyone's passport away if they suspect them?

Really nasty story, as much as I'd love to think otherwise, I fear she's no longer alive. Really hope I'm wrong _smile: _smile: If not her parents are going to be haunted for the rest of their lives. It's terrbile

Grr!! This story annoys me so much!! I feel sorry for the little girl more than anything. What kind of parents are they!? Leaving their 3 children, all toddlers, in an unfamiliar area on their own, while they're off having a good time scranning food quicker than a drunken man pisses!

It's her parents fault and if they'd have thought to care for their children properly then their poor little daughter wouldn't be in the situation that she is now, if she's even still alive, bless her.

I don't even leave my niece alone in my house where she is familiar with the surroundings, even if I'm going to the shop which is a 1minute walk from my house. I find it disgusting. Loads of people say "Well you don't think 'I better not leave my kids alone, what if someone takes them", but it's not just that. What if she had woken up, panicked cos her parents weren't there, then hurt herself on the furniture by accident or something and did serious harm to herself. Then they wouldn't look like the great, caring, worrying parents that the media have displayed them to be.

I hope she's found, safe and well... for her sake more than her parents'.

Agree with you, why would you leave 3 kids on their own in an unfimiliar place in a foreign country?? I hope she is alright
Why leave them on their own if there was a cheap nursery down the road too?

I think that's a bit much poolie, they checked on her every fifteen minutes, they were pretty much next door - most parents would do the same thing, although I doubt they would now

In that situation I'd rather leave the kids on their own than trust them with a nursery I haven't had chance to check out fully.

Any old nutter seems to be able to get a job in a place looking after kids, just look at Ian Huntly.

Basically, in that case, I would have stayed in the apartment. Surely they could have eaten in and ensured the children were safe? Any way, my thoughts go out to the WHOLE family in Portugal and here in the UK.

Of course it's not a bit much. And they checked on her every 30mins, not 15. And so what... what if, in those 30 minutes, she woke up, panicked cos nobody was there, got out of bed and hit her head off the sink or furniture, and her parents come back 30minutes later to find her dead all cos they would rather have a nice little meal.

As for next door, they were downstairs where the children couldn't be seen from where they were sat. When my niece stays with me, if I need to go to the shop which would take no more than 3minutes, at even 12o'clock in the night, I wake her up and take her with me... and that's in a place where she knows where she is, and where I know the area well too.

Not by far am I saying the parents deserved this to happen because no parent deserves that kind of worry and panic over their child's safety - what they do deserve though is the guilt, for inflicting this on their child.

Didn't realise it was 30 minutes - 15 minutes is bad, evidently, but I think there's quite alot of people who'd do the same and they were just unlucky. I'm not saying I'd do the same, but other people would

checked on them every 15 minutes.. imagine what a child can do in 15 minutes, he/she can just walk off anywhere.. in a foreign country you shouldnt leave your kids on there own at any time..

It is your responsibily and duty, to look after the welfare of your kids. Anything can happen in 15 minutes. I have little sympathy for the parents.

There can be NO excuses for leaving 3 such young children alone.I hope with all my heart the wee girl gets found alive and well, and i then hope the selfish parents who left her vulnerable and alone get nailed to the wall.

Actually no, my mom always took me with her wherever she had to go, shopping, the library, wherever (and I was probably a pain in the ass, but anyway that's beside the point) or left me at one my friends' houses until i turned twelve, and I think most parents would probably do the same... especially with children as young as poor little Madeleine. I just hope she's still alive and that they catch the creep who stole her away and stick him in jail for life.

Right I'll go out on a limb here but the whole thing is just sickening. The media is some kind of grief machine harrassing everything in sight giving us second by second update of er...nothing.

Let the police to there job.

And the pricks on myspace with the "Find Maddie" bulletins need to check there brains and work out what the hell they're doing except looking like a prune.
