Before I start this thread, all the games available to download, are 100% legal. All the games are abandonware.

Abandonware is computer software which is no longer being sold or supported by its copyright holder. Sometimes, it is used as a blanket category for any software over a certain age, usually five years.Ok lets get started. A lot of these games, infact all of them, are old games. Some are shite, some are not. I'm going to post a mix of both because games I llike, other people may not and vice versa.

FOR GAMES THAT NEED COMPATIBILTY OPTIONS

For some games the compatibility options need changing so they work on XP. This is mostly dos games but some other games need to be changed. Below is a link on how to do this.

Compatibility Options (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/expert/durham_og.mspx)

Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2 and Wild Metal (http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/gta.html) - These games cannot be directly linked to because they are technically, not abandonware, but still legal as they are direct from rockstar who made them.

I loved that game, it's still working on the Windows 3.1 machine in my bedroom.

I was chuffed when I managed to get a Panther Clipper.

I managed to shield it so well that it passed through a space station :D

The trick was to just travel from Barnards Star to Sol and back relentlessly.

Computers to Sol and Luxury Goods to Barnards Star.

I hope there's a Geekiest Post of the Year category in next year's awards.

Well I think I've put it in c:\cm2\. How do I start playing?

cliffy

lol, go into the folder and run GO.BAT. If it doesnt say bat at the end, it doesnt matter as there is only one GO program.

try just clicking on cm2. also before you do it, right click on cm2, go to compatibility and tick the first box and choose windows 95 and also tick run in 256 colours and 640 x 480 resolution. that should work
