Pitch invasions

Quote:
I think the celebration ones are fine and good nature - usually no problems at all.

Its the Leeds of last week type that need to be stopped (somehow)

We got onto the pitch at Fulham when we won the old Division 2 (League One) on the final day in 1998.

Then the home fans decided to as they had reached the play-offs.

Who has been invovled in one?
Found this on another forum.

To answer the guys question, what's the point of running onto the pitch? I just don't feel the need to run onto the pitch EVER!!!

Well when I went for 5 years from 1995 - 2000 I didn't feel the need.

I think it's one of those that files under "emotion".

YouTube - jimmy glass goal

YouTube - FA Cup 01-02 - Man U v Aston Villa - Ruud puts Man U on top!

YouTube - Giggs Fa Cup semi final 99

Jimmy Glass goal is a classic. Anyone who can watch that goal and say that you can never feel the need to run on the pitch EVER cannot claim to be proper football fan.

Going onto the pitch during play is 100% inexcusable, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it after the final whistle. Well of course it's putting the players safety at risk/messing up the turf blah blah blah but it's inevitable for any fan with the slightest bit of passion that after some results your going to.

When we did the Great Escape and beat Bournemouth 1-0 on the last day of the season (best match i've ever been to) we went on the pitch also when we beat Sunderland I ran on the pitch (we must be the only team to have a pitch invasion after beating Sunderland lol).

By the letter of the law it's wrong but morally it's not

i think it's easier and more accepted at lower league clubs, i saw Hendon win a county cup, and ran on the pitch afterwards.

It is more acceptable in a lower league basis because there are less people. Can you imagine if the Chelsea fans ran onto the pitch en masse when Drogba scored in the Cup Final...

I've only ever been in one pitch invasion. That was at Darlington at the end of the season, Darlo 2 - 1 Wrexham. Everyone went on before the game finished. I don't see the point in it though.
