View Full Version : Corradi (Cheat)
Hope this thread hasn't been started. Glad to see someone sent off for diving, even though it was only a yellow card I think he should be given a three game ban at least.
Anyway let's see how many pages this thread makes...

Fair enough he should have been sent off for diving but what bugs me is that the decisions involving Diving are so inconsistant. The ref will one week and not the next and its wrong. He had been pushed and shoved about for a lot of the game.

I don't think we'll see regular sendings-off for diving unless video replays come in, which is a big can of worms.
3 game ban for diving ok.
So, straight red for an elbow which is more dangerous should be at least a 5 gamer.
Bad tackle 7.

Why do bans need to be shorter because they don't cause injury?
It's still harming the game.
Yeah I agree as I've said a million times now, the refs aren't going to be able to stop diving 100% because players are getting good at it.
Instead of giving penalties why don't they review every decision on a monday morning where a penalty or free kick has been scored if the player dived to win itthen take-away the goal and ban the player for 5 games.
It would soon stop, but the powers that be prefer to reward diving, 80% of the time with a penalty/free-kick.
I DON'T SEE HOW THEY CAN NOT REALISE WHAT AM I MISSING HERE???????
Because one clearly deserves to be punished harder than the other. Dangerous play is a much more of an offence than someone diving.

I think they should be punished after the match if replays show they've dived as well, I'm not in favour of changing the result though because I think the result should be known to all once the final whistle's blown - too much complication could spoil things.
The punishment should be enough to prevent it from happening in the first place if it's actually applied.

They're both serious offences and deserve a serious punishment.
The danger with dangerous play is obvious.
Diving cheats thousands out of a fair result.
So should defenders who claim a goal kick when it's clearly a corner be banned as well? It's cheating end of t'day.

exactly, kiko's right. you cant give the death penalty to someone who robbed a store just because you gave the death penalty to a murderer.

No, that's opportunism.
Diving's pre-meditated.

Diving in football is comparatively worse than stealing in real life.

there are so many inconsistancies though. I dont really think that you can put diving and goal/corner kicks in the same catorgry really.
I also think a sin bin should come in.
So Ronaldo stays at home and goes "right 63rd minute I'm going to dive"
Give it a rest. If a player sees an opportunity to get a free kick they will try and gain the advantage.
Opportunitism.

A player can't turn on a dive as easily as raise a hand for a corner.
If someone who's not used to it tries it it's obvious.
Diving's a technique, not a spur-of-the-moment thing.

I think for some players it is premeditated kind of as its always the same ones who do it. Its as if they dont know what else to do apart from fall over. I know Corradi for one always falls over when he doesnt seem to know what else to do.
There's different levels. Claiming a goal kick isn't cheating it's more gamesmanship. It doesn't influence the ref's decison and sometimes both players will genuinely feel that it came off the other last.
A bit like if I ask you for money, it's rude, but if I steal money off you it's against the law.

yeah your right as you can tell who is a good diver or not. I think some practice in training.

How many times have you seen a defender play himself into trouble but then go down easily under pressure to gain a free kick?
Diving? Or just clever play?

It's not as serious.
Diving in the penalty area is almost as good as a goal.
A defender doing that is worth what, 5% of a goal?
Also diving should be punished in a more severe way than a bad tackle because most people agree that the game is better off without diving - the same cannot be said about tackling. You want players to think "I won't go down and con the ref because if I get caught I'll get banned", you don't want them to think "I won't go into this tackle, (or worse and more dangerously, go half-heartedly) because I don't want to get sent off"

they wont dive for the hell of it. Just if the think they can get a decent position for a free kick or a penalty. It doesnt help though if you get noticed for diving. Prime example was against Watford if Corradi wasnt known for being a bit of a diver we probably would have got the penalty, therefore when he did go down we got no decision as it was like "oh just another dive" so it doesnt help.

Andy Johnson's got the same problem, even though he's not a diver imo.

Er, yes you do. You don't want players flying in all over the shop causing injuries. I'm not saying outlaw tackling ffs, that's not even the argument. :D

Well in my example, if the defender didn't go down and loses the ball to the striker then who's to say he won't score?
So basically, you want to outlaw diving in the penalty area then? Because outside the area maybe only a 5% chance of a goal so not as bad.
No?

I don't think there are players who think right I'm going to dive in five seconds and win a penalty, I'm pretty sure it's just making the most of the oppurtunity.

Both are already outlawed.
I want a harsher punishment for diving in the opposition area.

no i think its more, well i cant find any one to pass to so ill fall over. Thats corradis problem i think. I think it is planned that if an oppurtunity arises they will dive.
