Michael Carrick is ****ing useless

On another footie forum I've been arguing about Carrick with the other Man United fans. They all think he's great, that he's been a big asset to our team this season, but I COMPLETELY disagree.

He's had maybe one or two good games, but that's about it. When Carrick get's the ball he's just so damn slow, he lacks any imagination or creativeness, so in the end he either gives the ball away, or makes some dodgy pass. (Or goes backwards, which ****ing annoys me). He seems to stop still for a second or two, to think about what he should do next. It's these seconds which give the defenders the chance to get a tackle in, or be able to predict what he's doing next. When they do get closer he cracks under pressure and just flops.

What we lack in midfield is a dominant player. A Gattuso or a Keano like figure who can control the midfield. Not some pussy who is afraid to go into most tackles. Scholes is the player who's meant to be going forward. With Carrick along side him, he's not gonna get much chance to since he's always having to cover him. I'm a bit wary with Hargreaves coming. I don't know if he's up to fitting half the gap Keano left, which has been there all season.

The number 16 shirt should be taken from Carrick straight away, I never agreed with it when they gave it to him in the first place.

Please don't say I'm the only one on this site too that thinks he's a waste of space?

i think he's a good player, he's not been at the club long, and he scored some good goals, he holds the ball up he does some good passing, hes not a bad player, he is good but not great, i think he will be better next season

Most of the time he doesn't need to hold the ball up, he's just holding it up because he doesn't know what to do! And you're right about his passing, he does make SOME good passes. A majority of his passes are wild though. I noticed this a lot during the Cup final. He passed the ball too short a few times, he also put up loads of longs balls which didn't work, resulting in him losing the ball too easily.

i echo those sentiments, he defo not worth 18 million. I think he's highly overated, and has been asked to play in an anchor position for which he is not comfortable with. Hargreaves will be much better, by a long way

It isn't April fools yet. We've needed someone like Carrick and think why Scholes has been out of this world this season - because of Carrick's quality and stability. Not worth £18m but it's helped us win the league.

I dont like carrick especially when he plays for england, he cant create any good chances or get a long ball on target, he justs lobs it forward and crosses his fingers

This is exactly what I hate about him. He punts it away before the opposing player can get a tackle on him, and it always results in a pass which is too short or too long.

You say he's not fast and lacks imagination but neither of these were Keane's strengths. He's still learning I think he'll do a good job in the future. If he had been bad he wouldn't have been part of a premiership winning side.

Keane had a great football brain, he didn't take long to decide what to do. And if Carrick hadn't have been so bad maybe we wouldn't have lost twice to the likes of West Ham and Arsenal, where they dominated the midfield. He is still learning, but he's only average at the moment, and that is definitely what we don't need playing for us week in week out. He makes no difference in the team, we need someone who is commanding in the middle of the park.

I agree about that I think Roy Keane is one of the cleverest footballers of his generation and it doesn't surprise me he's done well for Sunderland but no-ones saying Carrick's filled his boots, I doubt I've watched United as much as you this season but he doesn't seem to give the ball away that much

I've watched almost every game this season, and trust me, he has given the ball away more times than he's done something effective with it. He also did this a few times in the Cup Final, I remember him early on in the game passing it too short, letting a Chelsea player easily intercept it.

It will be hard to get someone to fill Keano's boots, and I know Carrick won't but I honestly don't expect him to. He's not the same type of player, which is why I don't like him playing for us. We don't need him, we need someone who actually is more like Keano, someone like I said earlier, who can actually dominate the midfield and keep the big names out of the game like Gattuso did against us.

Carrick has been brilliant this season.

We clearly need someone like Keane, that's why we won the league, cup finalists and euro cup semi finalists.

You have to move on lad. We have signed Hargreaves to give us the energy in midfield that maybe was missing at times this season, Carrick will control it with his passing and tidy play.
