Icon47 Premiership Fixtures 2007/2008

This Thursday at 10am the fixtures are released for Premier League. We will have to have a licence to be able to put the complete list of fixtures on the site, but this costs too much money, over a thousand pound.

Even though the fixtures are "freely" available on other websites. We will allow you to post your "important" fixtures in discussion format only and not in lists with times.

NOT Acceptable is the following

23rd Aug Middlesbrough v Newcastle
14th May Chelsea v Middlesbrough.

WHAT IS Acceptable is the following

We have a good game against Newcastle coming up of the 23rg August. Then soon after we are away to Chelsea.

They can't stop us from discussing the games ahead. As we are not re-producing any of their fixtures.

Fair enough. At the end of the day fixtures aren't a great discussion point and if people do want to find out then they can look at the bbc website. I take it this is just premiership but also at the end of last season some people posted chelsea and man utds run in - was that legal [I'll delete this bit if it wasn'tyes:]

I guess not but only posting a few of the fixtures can't be that bad. I guess I will just have to wait for an email saying we are getting sued lol.

I think generally their practical about it, they don't want people just copying and pasting the whole fixtures because it breaks copyright which is understandable.

Yay fixtures!! I can predict fixtures too! I bet that Boro will play Sunderland this year!!! Not only that, they'll be playing 18 other teams!!! What about say Anfield vs Merseyside? That's not listing teams.

Yes thats true but they will probably have something that stops you from doing that. But Pro evo used different names for the clubs on their game as they don't have the licence.

It's not worth it. As I said before people don't go on mff (I don't think) to find out fixtures, bbc.com do that much better.

At the end of the day the fixtures are property of the premierleague so we have no right to publish them without a license.

We have every right. We are the fans, if it wasn't for the fans during the past hundred years. Where would the money have come from?

Surely we can say, Toon v boro or St James's Park v Riverside Stadium?

But I think i'm just going to stick with what I said in the first post.

I dont see what the harm is...like you said people wont come on here to find out the fixtures - they'll go to BBC or Skysports.. Besides, i could make a whole fixture list in about an hour.

Yeah but it doesn't work like that, you pay money to watch a game (either on sky or at the ground) not to get the legal rights to reproduce the fixtures.

S'pose we could do it the pro evo way:

Black and White North-east v. Red North East

or maybe

Castle that's New v. Middle of the borough

Could be entertaining...

Yes, i'm not bothered about not being able to post the fixtures. But its the problems that might come over when we are discussing the future fixtures like talking about the games this weekend, that would be classed as reproducing the fixtures "in part". But in all honesty, if we stop people from posting whole lists of fixtures then they shouldn't be to worried about the discussion about the future fixtures.

I don't know what to do about the Prediction Leagues as that is all fixture based. Maybe we should only do a few uk league fixtures a week and the rest should be foreign.

Your right, the FA won't be looking, but a company called NetResults does look and they have us on record already for posting fixtures on the site.

oh ok. what is allowed? surely if you copy them from your clubs official site that will be legit as it belongs to them. (plus it'd be individul fixtures not the whole league)
