Is the Premiership better or worse off for foreigners taking over clubs?

Good post on another forum that I have found.

Quote:
Abravomich, Lerner, the Glazer family, Gaydamak, Magnusson, Quinn and Rick Parry have all taken over Premiership clubs in the recent past, and hav all poured money into the clubs (sorry if I forgot anyone major). Stan Kroenke is interested in Arsenal, Lakshmi Mittal in Birmingham, Thaksin Sinawatra close to finishing his takeover of Man City and Blackburn are now` also apparently the target of American interest.

With the Premiership clubs slowly being bought off, does anyone think that this could compromise the integrity of our league, and make it less worth of respect? Or is it the inevitable start of a revoultion that revoultionises football?

In terms of just Arsenal, I would now welcome the takeover by Kroenke if it meant that he brought back Dein and resolved the financial and personal problems at the club, but in the case of the whole premiership being bought off, I'm not sure. It would attract all the best players to England, and if every club had plenty of money, then the Premiership would be a much more open and exciting contest, but I don't want football to turn into a hobby for rich Americans to indulge in when they are bored.

Your thoughts?
I think it does compromise the integrity of our league, it gives the people with the money, a monopoly in the game. They can afford anyone they want with the money that have. Its a disgrace really. I am totally against people buying clubs. Its unfair and no way is it sport.

You shouldn't be able to buy success. You should have to get success, then get the money that comes with it. Thats the only fair way.

Drogba. Ronaldo. Henry...

Please don't say there are too many foreigners in the premiership. Look at Chelsea, they had virtually no English players before Roman came and at least now they are buying English players and getting them into the England team, even if things didn't go well for Scott Parker etc.

So we should scrap bringing in anymore foreign players and build English football strictly on English players, how long would that take to progress into what the Premiership is now?

Foreign players contribute to the premiership and make a good reputation for it, theres nothing wrong with that is there?

Exactly. Also it's all very well saying that if there were no foreigners are national team would do better as prem clubs would have to bring through English players, BUT if you say next season or season after that no foreigners allowed then the premiership is going to suffer so much during the transition period that clubs wouldn't be able to cope.

You've got the wrong end of the stick. I'm talking about people tacking over the clubs. putting millions into their club.
