As I predicted in the prediction league thread Ive gone for an upset I think we will edge a famous 2-1 win. Hopefully martins will continue his fine form of late. The team news Joe Cole is out for Chelsea and drogba is a dobut also Cudicicni should return.

As for Newcastle we are missing Parker and Dyer who should be back at the weekend to take on watford as well as them Moore Bernard babayaro (suspended) Solano Bramble Duff Emre owen Ameobi are all out injured. Butt should play despite having a virus and Sibierski is a dobut to.

Despite this I think we will defy the odds and win our 4th game i a row. H'way the lads.

How do you guys see the game going?

I'm going to this game and I can't wait for it, I really think the players will be up for this match. I don't think the players will be affected by the pressure as they all seem mentally strong. I have had enough of this narrow midfield for now, I really hope we go back to the 4-5-1/4-3-3 for this game as I really think the wingers will cause Newcastle a lot of problems.

I hope we play like this:

------------------Hilario
-Geremi--Carvalho--Terry--Cole

-----------------Makelele
-------Essien-------------Lampard

SWP-------------------------------Robben

-----------------Drogba

I would have Ballack and Sheva on the bench. Although I would be tempted to put Ballack in for Makka and have Essien in the holding role, then we would create much more chances IMO and I can't see Newcastle giving us much problems at the back.
I think we will win the game and play really well, we need lots of goals to get our confidence up. My prediction - Chelsea 4-1 Newcastle.

By the way Chelsea fans, there is still tickets available if anyone is thinking of going.

Come on the Toon Army, it's just a shame that it's not at St James Park, Cheatski don't have the best record in recent years, they've lost 2 of the last 3 they've been there.

Anyway, I reckon it'll be a draw. Chelski will be playing that dull diamond formation which will have no effect. If Martins is on form, they could nick a few goals. But Chelski have a very good record at the Bridge. 1-1 and 7 points behind :D

this game looks to be terrific
newcastle starting to play a little better,
& chelsea well they need to get the win,
no more slip ups allowed
5 points & a loss now make it 8 points & that is not a little gap

Rossi is playing. It looks like a 4-3-3. Sibierski and martins are also playing. Unless Sibierski is playing as an AM or in the middle.

If Rossi scores the winner, I'll have to change my name ;)

It's been a good game so far, Chelski are applying early pressure but are wasteful in the finishing. Newcastle just hit the bar from a corner.

Where's True Blue? It'll be a laugh if we get anything from this match. :D

Chelsea substitution: Shaun Wright-Phillips replaced by Didier Drogba (tactical). Chelsea substitution: Ricardo Carvalho replaced by Claude Makelele (tactical).

OOO, desperation kicking in there?

so far with the second half substitutions drogba is giving the newcastle a few problems
why doesnt roeder introduce luque with 25 left, sibierski looks tired & had a few knocks
rossi & martins are feeding on scraps, martins needs a good pass to run thru terry.

by the way I like Mathew Taylor, looks like a little boy running at times but he has good positioning & with time will learn to anticipate better,& clear the ball better
nicky butt, is real impressive, he has a sense of calmness & experience that they clearly need

thanks RR
my friends think I should coach or commentate as I always stuff like that
not showing off or anything
but with parker out they had a stiff battle in the middle of park, with dyer & solano out
newcastle were desperate for some skill, ingenuity & flair
their squad looks very thin
i cant see luque staying, even when fit he barely is playing, he has a great touch & hasnt been given a fair chance, its better to let him go & for newcastle to start looking for strikers in transfer winter.
martins can run all day long, but he needs decent service & some help as well.
sibeirski is a good option but he isnt a prolific striker, more a squad member that is doing very well at the moment
chelsea played enough to win, they were lucky at times, but in the end scored
sheva did well even if he didnt score

I'm not sure.

I didn't watch this game but heard that Chelsea were showing a bad performance?

I watched the game on foriegn channel in a local pub and I must say considering the injury situation we were superb its just a pitty sibierski missed 2 headed chances and Rossi flashed a shot just wide. I thought we deserved at least a point Shay only had to make a couple of saves and Huntington on his full debut and Taylor and Butt were all excellent. The sibi Martins partnership is doing well and Rossi worked tirelessly as did Milner. Well done lads just think what we could have done with a full squad to choose from. The future looks bright fr us and hopefully we will make some more superb signings in January.

3 home games against watford adn Tottenham in the elague and chelsea in the carling cup all in the space of 7 days and I think we will win all 3 games. Well done lads.

Yeah we deserved a draw we were superb in defence (not often you say that) and Huntington and Taylor were excellent Butts performances this season have been great to and when Shay was called upon and not to many times I should ad genuinely he was top notch that save from Robbens shot that he tipped onto the post was world class goal keeping. The future as I say IMO is bright for Newcastle for the first time since Sir Bobby left I am really optimistic. Glenn (who I had my dobuts over) has done a superb job in enginereeing a great comeback of results since the sheffield united result. Also I think since Nigel Pearson has came in he has done wonders on the rtaining pitch to you can see it in the team performances. Well done Newcastle and I hope United and I think United will win the title.
