Excellent choice mate, the Core 2 Duo's would be better but not sure how much of a price difference they will be. The new Intel C2D's churn about 50% more performance for a similar rated AMD 64 X2.

Oh yeah and I recommend a memory upgrade, at least to 1GB as 512 is just enough for XP and meets the bare minimum for Vista.

I think thats about it what you should look at as the rest look good.

AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH its a dell, dont think you will get it much cheaper with work, id look for an acer laptop if i was you, i will look to see if i can get any good deals at the moe

Dont get ACER mate, their Laptops might be cheap but their support aint good. It would be a good idea to stay miles away from any ACER

never had a problem with acer, sold over 400 laptops to schools, and sold over 1000 monitors, had a few faulty and had them replaced with in a few days, they did have a problem with there custmer support when they moved buildingd about 4 months ago, but its been great since
