Feyenoord need a home win against Wisła Kraków to secure a place in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup as Group E reaches a conclusion in Rotterdam.
• Feyenoord drew both of their opening games, against FC Basel 1893 and Blackburn Rovers FC, before a 3-0 defeat at AS Nancy-Lorraine on Matchday 4 which was interrupted by crowd trouble. Anything but a victory against Wisła would now see them eliminated from the competition.
• After losing both of their opening games 2-1, against Blackburn and Nancy, Wisła rallied to beat Basel 3-1 on Matchday 4. Now, a draw or better against Feyenoord would earn them a place in the knockout rounds.
• The side finishing top of the section is guaranteed a tie against one of the third-placed finishers from another group in the draw for the Round of 32 on 15 December, while each pool runner-up will meet one of the third-placed finishers from the UEFA Champions League.
• The two sides have never met in European competition.
• Feyenoord coach Erwin Koeman has come up against Polish opposition only once in his career, a 3-1 1994 FIFA World Cup qualifying win for the Netherlands in Poznan on 17 November 1993. Two goals from Dennis Bergkamp and one from Ronald de Boer helped the Dutch win.
• Wisła coach Dragomir Okuka came up against Dutch opposition in the form of FC Utrecht in the first round of the 2002/03 UEFA Cup during his time as coach of Legia Warszawa. His side won 4-1 at home and then 3-1 away. Future Feyenoord star Dirk Kuyt, now at Liverpool FC, scored in the second leg for Utrecht.
• Feyenoord have played eight games against Polish opponents in the course of four two-legged European ties, starting with a 2-0 aggregate win against Legia in the 1969/70 European Champion Clubs' Cup semi-final.
• In total, they have won four games, drawn three and lost one.
• All four of those wins came on home soil, meaning that they have a 100 per cent record against Polish teams in Rotterdam.
• Wisła have played four games against Dutch opponents in the course of two two-legged European ties.
• In total, they have won three of those games, losing the other one.
• They have played twice in the Netherlands, losing once but winning on their most recent visit - 2-1 at NEC Nijmegen in the 2003/04 UEFA Cup first round. They had won the first leg 2-1 in Poland.
• Blackburn play Nancy in Matchday 5's other Group E game.
